Dealer Advice Needed - ‘06 LC South Atlanta

Gents,
First time 100 series buyer here. Went to look at and test drove an ‘06 today here in South ATL. Truck drove well and everything worked as it should. Scheduled to take it in for inspection next Friday at ACC garage in ATL.

My questions are what are the big things to be looking for with these trucks? Sounds like timing belt and water pump are routinely replaced. Not sure if that was done recently. Other concerns are some cosmetic stuff as pictured below. Additionally there’s some carpet staining right inside the bottom lift gate which may have been indicative of a leak at some point. It was parked outside this morning in the pouring rain but did not appear to be wet inside when I checked it out.

It’s listed for $15,900 but I think $14,000 would be a reasonable offer for this truck perhaps? Inspections run $225/hr at ACC garage so don’t wanna waste my time if it’s a no go.

Thanks for reading and any insight!!

Rare to find a cruiser thats lived its whole life in Georgia-(good)

Its been dealer serviced regularly mostly by the same dealers for its service life- (good)

Get the service history on when the TB & waterpump was last changed- but chances are it needs doing and you can budget $1200 +\- for a dealer to do that factor that into your price.

If the seats arent cracked or torn, and the carpet is reasonable, switches, CDL, 4wd works and it checks out with ACC, 14k
range for that truck would be reasonable. Anticipate the dealer to tacknon the drive off fees, and give you the its been serviced BS.

I had the timing belt and water pump done at a toyota dealership for under $1200, so the advice given above is solid. That's a 90k mile item, and if you don't have 100% confirmation that it has been done twice, plan on getting it done right away.

At $225/hour for inspection (which is INSANE), I would take it to the nearest Toyota dealer for a pre-buy inspection. I've done this on most Toyota/Lexus vehicles that I've bought and never paid more than $160 for it, and usually around $100. You can negotiate on the price before and/or after you get the pre-buy report. Depending on what the report reveals, you might be able to squeeze them for a little more, which can be easier to do if you are already settled on a price "contingent on pre-buy inspection results".

Good point- I thought that to be pricey as well, thats not ACC’s hourly rate so it must be a flate fee for 2 hrs. Another option is Toyotechs in Brookhaven. Decent indi toyota shop with a cruiser tech.

That truck is from GA, appears to of never left S.GA, which means it's never seen salt (unless it's been to the beach), and probably only been a victim of GA Clay (not in any way a bad thing, just sticks to everything). IF the underside is clean, and it runs great. Offer them 14KOTD or 15KOTD and they fix the rear box damage.

I've stolen a few cars (not literally) from the dealerships by getting 99.99% of the way through the buying process, then saying let me think about it and call me tomorrow if it hasn't sold. I did that on a car, when I felt they were still holding back...turns out they offered me another $2K off my "lowball" offer.

So whatever happened with this one? I see it's back on the market.

Yeh decided to go a different direction and look for a good 200 series LC. Never had this rig inspected, and didn't wanna deal with the body work. Appreciate the input from everyone though.
