The windshield molding on my 2008 LX 570 is hanging and is no longer sealed on top of the windshield/roof. The molding itself is intact and appears that it just needs to be re-sealed with an adhesive. The molding does 'click' back into place on the roof, but it comes loose again after 30 mins of driving. Does anyone know the correct adhesive to use and any tips/tricks to consider when re-sealing? Thanks for the help folks!

Either the clip got bent or the trim plastic deformed that is no longer held in place. Depending on how good of a fix you want you may just glue it, but not sure what adhesive will work, or troubleshoot and see if the clip or the trim are the issue and fix/replace.

Factory service manual calls for the stainless clip to be bonded to the channel in the body with “flexible epoxy”.

I had the same issue when I got my 200. I found a product made by Total Boat for fiberglass boat repair on Amazon when I did my windshield trim and it has held up great for over 90k miles through a subsequent windshield replacement and trim removal. The glass tech thought the clips were factory installed because they didn’t pull off when he removed the trim.

Personally I’d get new clips and use the above product. Note that you need to clean the channel very well. There may not be room without removing the trim completely.. and that may destroy it. If you remove the trim, definitely get the white clips that hold the trim to the windshield frame.

Had this same problem for over a year on my '09 LX. I would pop it in, and later on it would pop back out. My fast fix for a roadtrip was Gorilla taping it down to the rubber trim piece behind it. I think all the popping in & out wore down the plastic on the molding, so that it wouldn't stay in the clip.

I recently replaced the moldings, timed with a windshield replacement. They are surprisingly cheap on Partsouq ($48/ea + shipping). You will need the clips that Bloc mentioned, too.

I used contact cement (Barge brand). First time not enough, and it popped up again. Second time a lot, and it has held fine. I had that laying around, and it is viscous enough to stay mostly put. I didn't want anything super permanent.

My 2010 does that and I'm always careful to check it before I go to the car wash. I can imagine it getting snagged on the brushes and being torn off.

I also used to notice a banging sound when four wheeling, especially when rocking side to side, and thought it was the seatbelt mechanism until I realized it was the loose trim banging at around head level.

Need to replace 2010 LX windshield and I have the same channel molding problem. Safelite quote for OEM (acoustic) windsheild is $1550, but I am thinking I need to get all of the trim pieces for the windshield, because my moldings are shot. Anyone have experience with Safelite replacing all the moldings correctly?

So far here is my parts list:

Upper Molding - 75531-60080
Right Molding - 75533-60082
Left Molding - 75534-60072

Stainless Clips (2) - 75561-60030
Plastic Clips (8) - 75548-60021

I think I am missing a few corner molding pieces, but I can't find a good parts sheet. Anyone had Lexus replace the windshield and all trim pieces?

I am definitely going OEM windshield, because the non-OEM windshields are not tinted and they seem louder to me at highway speeds, and in New Mexico my daily commute is 85-90 on the highway.

Were you able to get this repaired by Safelite? After many windshield replacements I'm having the same issue.

I got the windshield replaced with OEM but it took 4 months to get the OEM part in, and despite being assured they would replace all the mouldings, they did not. So I still have the moulding pop up every now and then. I should have went to LEXUS Dealership. Sadly, 1 months after getting the windshield replaced, I got another chip - New Mexico is hard on windshields. I am planning to get a parts list together for the moulding and order later this month and fix it while the weather is good. Not sure what I will do about my chip.

I wouldn't got to Safelite ever again.

Wow! I just had mine replaced 4 weeks ago and it took one week to get all the parts windshield and molding included. All Lexus OEM parts. This is Seattle area. I went to my preferred glass shop for more than a decade: Car Tech Auto Glass
Not Safelite, and not New Mexico. There are good reasons New Mexico is 48th out of the 50 states in many categories. If you're not from New Mexico and come to live in New Mexico, be prepared to exercise extreme patience and restraint.

AZ is hard on windshields too. Have to get one replaced on one of my cars just about every year. Safelite has been doing it because my USAA coverage makes it convenient. They broke the auto rain sense module on both cars last time. Will not be going back to them. lexuspartsnow.com has all the parts you listed, but like everything they have gone up significantly.

No one that cares about their cars should use safellite.
