Anybody know what's going on? The 1996 cruiser will blow cold but the belt starts making noise when I turn the air on. When I look the compressor is turning almost in clicks, turn an inch stop for just a second, turn an inch stop for a second, sorta just eeking around. When I turn the AC off the clutch just spins free like it should. Anybody know what's going on and if there's an easy fix here or if I'm funked?

Very recent thread on this issue (I think):

So could this be the idler pully? Can't see why it would only happen when the AC is on if so?

It could be a lot of things but start with the simple and most obvious.

1. What condition are your belts in? You should use ONLY Toyota belts and replace them at the same time (2 alt + 1 A/C)

2. Check belt tension.

If this doesn't fix it then start listening for noises and other things.

Possible compressor problem, it may be trying to sieze.

Sonorafun,

On second thought, I am certain that your problem is not the belts. It has to be the A/C compressor and you are in luck because I have a brand new one that is a spare and I don't need it.

Send $100 to Beowulf@PayPal.com and I'll send it right out to you. I promise.

Yeah well, if you read the thread I've asked people to please call me, I even provided my 1800 number for them to call me at so they wouldn't get charged. Some items were sent, others are sitting waiting to be sent out. I'd explained that none of them will get a refund from paypal as the account is frozen and that in addition to personal issues was the reason for items not going out sooner. Some people were too stubborn to call me so I could resolve the issue whiel speaking with them. Anyway you slice it though I'm at fault here, my intent is not to scam anybody and if I were to do so Landcruiser people would be the last I would scam. With work and my kids and all else, call me and we'll get this resolved when you do. (520) eight two nine 5639....

Thanks a lot,
Adam

PS Dan is a total funk up on my end! He called and I've spaced him a dozen times so I'll refund your money and still send out the latches to make up for me being a flat out idiot!
