About to order a 2021 LC and I have a question about manually shifting the gearbox. I live in the mountains so I use the manual shifting a lot. Can you just put the LC in, say, 3rd or 4th gear and hold it there? I imagine you can but did not pay attention the last time I drove one.

It will limit it to that top gear, but it can still select the gears below that (putting shifter in 2nd will use 1st or 2nd ).

As an aside, I don't think these shiftable automatics are "sequential shifting gearboxes". I use the manual gear selection all the time in the mountains.

I use manual shifting all the time in the mountains and coming to red lights, from highway cruise speeds, the 8 speed tranny feels like it needs several downshifts to get to a gear that starts to provide engine braking because it starts in 7th or 8th gear to begin with, several pulls to get me to an engine brake from 65-70mph, getting to 4th or 3rd gear, if that makes sense. It works very well and does what you are asking!

Yeah, sequential was the wrong word. Manual shifting is what I was referring to.

The 6 speed in the 08-15 is the tits for downshifting. Don't like it as much in the 8 speed LX.
