Alex...He welded caps on the the 2 big holes where the hard top posts mount into. Those aren't threaded though right? It was a full frame off...new bushings, rebuilt front axle, new clutch, oil pump, everything works. Original 2f engine and tranny.

Not threaded, just open holes. There is a threaded set screw on the inside to hold the post once it;s inserted. See if that's there.

the seam should have been sealed.
stop somewhere and get a tape measure. i would measure the front door openings and across the tub then come here for "correct" numbers. if it wasn't braced correctly when the quarters were off, you might have a hard time getting a hard top on it.
it also looks like it's missing it's tramp stamp on the A pilliar ds.

Yeah! Looks good in the pictures.

Well that deal went all sideways at the last minute.

I lost out on the blue one I think.

The search continues I suppose.

It takes time, be patient and LEARN all you can on here-then you will be better equipped to buy. I learned a lot here-lots of it later. Good luck with the search-mine took like 6 months to find the '78 I bought.

Sorry for not updating this sooner and thanks for filling it in Alex. (Also...thanks for your help via text throughout).

The seller was not producing a vin number at the time. He now has one, but I'm cautious. These pictures arrived as well. I know these frames are built like tanks, so it concerns me a bit that the front end is dimpled like this.

That is a bit odd. Almost like it crashed into something head-on really hard but it would be tough to get the load as even as that from side to side. You should check out the 68 I've got for sale if you're open to 3 speed trucks. It's a heck of a lot cleaner body/frame wise than the one's you've found so far. And it's in your budget.

Could have been a winch mounted there caused the dimples. I would be more concerned with the body work and modification done to the rear end for the tail gate. The body line has been changed at the top rear of the quarter. Maybe to allow a flush fit with the tailgate.

Ken thanks for the offer. That's a great deal and nice example you have there. I'm going to keep searching though.

70 I think you're right. Something just isn't sitting right with me about the blue 40. I think I'll just go with my gut and continue hunting.

Alex, search-tempest is a sweet tool. I punch in what I want and do a 4,000 mile search each night.

Check out CL in Prescott Az. and Inland Impire Ca. I saw a couple at a decent price

You can set up alerts in CL or Searchtempest. You'll need to go to each city's CL page to set up the alerts.

Has been bent, likely in an accident and poorly repaired. Not that uncommon, and doesn't take much of a hit to do it, have repaired a couple like that.
