I've started my built, and my goal is be done by the first week of july.

M101 is in good shape, a couple of rust spot where paint was scratch, but a complete M101. I've started fabricating the top cover that will be hinged, with cylinders (if you know a place where i can by good and strong cylinder please give me a link. On top of the cover i will do support for the RTT, i'm hesitating between a eeziawn 1800 or a Overland large.

Then i will do a tail gate.

I do not know if i will sandblast it or just sand it to cover it with a polyurethane coat the color of my truck. Inside will be black.

For now thats about it. I don't plan on looking right away for new tires unless those cannot handle the added weight.

Sweet trailer, I am getting ready to get a lid fabricated for mine as well. Bought the crossmember bars from someone here on Mud who is fabricating them. I will be putting my Eezi 1400 on it which is plenty big after opening it up for the first time. As far as the gas struts, I bought some from someone here who bought them from McMaster which give all the specs on how to mount them from diff locations on ur trailer. Good luck with the build, will follow it.

Good price. I paid $950 for mine in CO. It was pretty clean with no real issues.

Tail gate is about done.

The top cover also, but my guys used a 14 ga sheet metal on top, just way too heavy, i will replace it with 20-22 ga sheet. Cylinder even being 158# are not enough. Oddly i used mcmaster formula to calculate them.

Yes, 1"x1"x1/8" covered with 14 ga steel on the side and top cover is 22ga. If i'd doing it again i would go with thinner tubing. .083 or .100

Eric

what size Eezi is that? any more pics of it from the side?

Rob

It is the 1800. I can post up some other pictures next time i open it up.

Looks good Eric, it looks like you added 2 more shocks for the lid, did it help? I still have to build a lid for mine which will hold a Eezi 1400 and I am going to be using 2-250lb and hope that is sufficient? will see. Keep up the nice build.

Even with 4x 258 # cylinder the first 12" is hard to lift then it gets alot easier as you lift.

Due to my tail gate i kind had no choice on the position of the cylinder.

If i do again. I would use alot thinner tube are aluminum tube and rivet steel on it.

but the lid is at least 125# and the tente 150# so we are talking at least or very close to 300# to lift.

but you don't have to do a 6" high lid like i did. I did it so big jerry cans fit in the trailer. That is up to you. right now you can see the center of gravity being very high. But once loaded with 200-300# of gear it will drop down.

Looking good. Are we going to see this at the yankee toys fall gathering?
