Yeah you missed the window for the PHH in the easiest possible way.

Best way to go now is just get the front driver wheel off and get in there and replace. Do it now before you introduce new coolant. Get one of those 90 degree needle nose plier things, be careful of your knock sensor to the left of the PHH.

When I did a HG three years ago I installed the phh on the work bench. I rolled that rig and when base lining my next and current 80 I eliminated the phh and the steel pipe and routed a piece of gates heater hose from the head directly to the new heater valve. This is not an uncommon practice.

Okay, took your advice @baldilocks and as usual its excellent advice. Picked up some Gates Green Stripe from Napa and a couple constant torque clamps. I can see why the metal pipe is such a pain in the ass. It doesn'tflex and you have to line it up just so. Also, I like the idea of getting of a couple leak points by going straight hose.

I thought so....this is one of those times where I was target fixated and only concerned about bolting on the intake so I could start putting everything else back on.:slap: I'll do it this weekend before I put the throttle body back on.

Thank you gentleman!

If you are doing the PHH bypass, place a sacrificial rubber hose around the bypass hose so it does not rub against the inlet manifold and cause a leak.
