I use one of these bad boys and my cordless drill.

I loathe filling a transmission or t case with the stupid pump things from the auto parts store. I made this. Works well, if not a bit slow. At least I’m not covered in gear oil.

Pretty slick. The gear oil in poly bags with a spout looks really nice, just squeeze it in and dump the bag. But it's probably 50% more than the old fashioned bottle. And it only comes in a quart, nothing bigger.

I always end up cheaping out and using the syrup pump thing.

With a Home Depot garden sprayer?

I had the idea the other day when I was pumping gear oil into Galen’s HJ61 down at Jimmy’s and the F’ing hose flew off the bucket pump. Spent a 1/2 hour cleaning gear oil off of everything. Looked it up and of course other people have done it, I’m not that smart.

It was pretty cold today and even though I’d stored the GO inside I ended up putting the pump in a bucket of hot water. I’d say it took about 10 minutes with a few pump pumps here and there to re-pressurize the dude. Good lord does it beat the syrup pump thing, especially with more than 5 liters.

We actually have a garden sprayer just for that purpose. Usually for the new automatics that don’t have a dipstick 🙄

Gear lube we have in 5 gallon buckets with pumps and hoses on them.

This was $12 and about 5 minutes with a heat gun.

I’m going to throw my syrup pumps away with alacrity.

So I’m like a professional shop is what you’re saying?

Is it me or does a laugh emoji from Cruisermatt Matt hit a bit harder?

What’s a great rig.

And now it’s primo with the 5 speed
Thanks. Definitely loved her back into existence, she was pretty mechanically neglected when I took over but great frame and body.

Need some slider/steps before my family murders the seats.

I bought one poly bag which I refill repeatedly from a gallon jug. It's changed my life.

Good to see you mashing gears as you should! Its been a long time coming. Glad light is at the end of your transmission tunnel.
