Thanks for the comments on the paint. I guess I will be going back to home depot to buy more.

I replaced the PCV valve last week and added the Lucas oil additive yesterday. I maybe saw a slight improvement. I didn't notice much smoke when I started it or while driving, but when I pulled into the driveway and let it sit in neutral it started smoking. I am hoping the Lucas stuff will start seeping in and cut down on the smoke. Still keeping my eye out for a used 2F or 3FE to eventually make the swap. I was hoping the rain would hold off so I could drive it Tuesday to the meeting, but it isn't looking good.

That is the rings. Just don't let it idle a long time and DRIVE IT!!!

I guess that is like if it hurts when you touch it just don't touch it. I plan on taking your advice. I bought a compression tester kit to make sure there isn't a big loss of compression. I guess I better read the directions because I have never used one before.

Next time you watch a show on Afghanistan or Sub-Saharan Africa think about those trucks that have lived in those extreme environments with no regular service for 40+ year of countless abuse.

The 2F is one of the most resilient motors ever invented.

Get in it and drive it and unless you are "killing mosquitoes" the entire time you are driving, it will last more miles than you will ever put on it....

If the 2f had more hp it would be in every rig I own..

Another surprise

The past few months I have gotten used to the little surprises that my 40 gives me. Usually it comes in a form of stuck/stripped/shattering bolts, but I got a new one the other day. I was using a hammer to bang my rear bumper straight, when dirt started pouring out of the tail light. I was shocked at how much kept coming, so I took a pic of the pile. The only question is what continent is it from.

Get off my land!

Don't breathe that dust!!!!!!!!!!

kidding

There is a cover that gets dirt trapped in that covers the tail light assembly. I would tell you to take it apart but the bolts might break. Ha!

Bezel on, top off

Finally finished working on the bezel and got it back on the right side up. Also removed and dismantled the top to make it easier to store and refinish. John and I took it on a very cold and damp trip around the neighborhood Monday after taking the top off. He made the comment that he thought it ran better with the top removed, and I think I agree with him. Maybe it missess crazy Robin and it feels better with it off.

It didn't run any better. It just didn't have an extra 300lbs to carry around!

It needs the balance of 100' of hemp rope wrapped in a figure-8 around the front bumper. Put it back!
