ok so here is after the deck is prety much gone and rebuild begins.

all 2 x 6 deck joist cut and new 2x8 pressure band board bolted to the 2x6's and the header bolted to the telephone pole stilts the house was originally built on.

also i am going to have to rebuild this wall and replace this single pane slider with a new one.

watch the first step it is a bitch...

new band board all the way around.

new beam being built.

and a few more beams built, if i totally have to rebuild the deck i might as well make it bigger.

now i have to move all of this so i can start on the next section.

wood is all moved, and you can see here i am putting a metal roof under the deck so i can store my wood and keep it dry.

and when i got to this point my job went into overtime, so this is pretty much how it has been till today.

it was too dark to get pics this evening when i finished the flooring so i will get them tomorrow.

yes i put flashing on what you are looking at in that pic is the new band board, when i pulled the old one off you could look down through the floor joist, the ledger board goes over top these boards.

this pic shows the flashing, i had to take the bottom cedar board off so that the flashing goes behind the siding.

Ok, good to see! Was getting ahead of myself there. Carry on!

lol when i built my garage a friend that is a carpenter helped me. we took measurements at 45* angles across the garage, and the were perfect so i know my garage is square, so i started off of it, but it is not square off the house so my deck wrap angles are not going well.

Looks good man.
Good idea with the metal pitched roof under the deck to keep the wood pile dry underneath.

thanks joe, this idea actually started when i tried to put plastic roofing under the old deck, but the way it was built caused more problems so i had to take it down. so from there i have put a lot of thought into what i have done. that being said there will be some water getting threw the point is to keep it off the wood and away from the house, and so far no water has been near the house and the wood is dry.

got a little more done the last couple of days...

i put up one of the stair risers to get the height of the landing deck, it is a 5 step riser.

i did not like where it stopped or how high it was so i went and got 6 step riser..
