Greg,
Did you pick up that 105 that was for sale in Houston? Is there a diesel swap in the future?

yup, he got the 105.

Yes, I did. I'm not sure about the long-term, as the 1FZ-FE that's in there seems to be in prime condition still. I'll say this, if there ever needs to be a re-power on that truck, it will be a diesel.

That was a nice rig. do you have any plans for it?

Cool. Is that the newer 1FZ's with the coil packs instead of the cap and rotor?

I believe this is correct. But my knowledge of the 1FZ is quite limited. I know that the intake plenum on this truck is completely different than the North American-spec'd 1FZ's.

Drive the piss out of it and enjoy every mile. :D

I've taken off the running boards, though they are not like the 100-series running boards. I'm going to add an ARB front bumper but probably without a winch. The truck already has the auxiliary tank, so that's a real plus for my purposes.

do you know if the IFS ARB fits the 105? Or will you have to import aftermarket stuff?

I feel pretty certain that the one that Slee sells can be made to work.

i skimmed the last posts a bit, but what are you referring to with regards to the "IFS ARB..." fitting the 105?

To assume, front bar should be the same, happy to be corrected. The 105....was from memory available in petrol (gasolene) and diesel.

Craigs Adaptors had this awesome LS2 (i assume LS2, LS7s are becoming popular) installed (and a kit obviously) in a 105....at the 4wd show at Melbourne Showgrounds...man it was nice. And you can put it on LPG too. Not sure of diesel to LS2 conversion...obviously the tank would need to be changed or very very cleaned out...fuel pumps too...so...meh not cheap. Would you need a different ECU? If you're going to an LS2 then that question is moot of course.
ok
thats it from me for now

Frame rail width. Not sure if the IFS V8 is the same as the 105 frame.

The 105 only had the diesel and a six cylinder petrol/gasolene engine. The Chevy LS2 i saw was definately a solid axle LC100, so a 105.
The lift it had was like the biggest lift i've seen on an 80 series. Definately not a 100 IFS.

So food for thought. Oh and it was on LPG which from memory is 108 octane and combined with the newer tech LPG injection, perfomance, lift and economical to boot.

BIG EDIT!! this is a link to his Facebook album build up of the what i think i saw last year, but the date stamps are recent. It looks the same, but it's an LS3, not LS2.

we're referring to the fact that there were no 105's sold in the US. We only had the 100's, and they have IFS (Independent Front Suspension) . . . as in no solid front axle. The other poster was asking me if I'd be able to instal an ARB brand aftermarket front bumper designed for a 100 onto a 105. I replied that I would, even if it required some minor modifications.

Well I spent a good hour pulling, comparing, and checking parts numbers for the cyclonic housing.

No go.

I checked HDJ100/105, FZJ100/105, HZJ100/105 and could not find a part number that was available in the US.

There are a few more cross-reference options that I am going to check on tomorrow with the 7x series rigs.

Sorry I can't provide any positive info at this time.

And, you guys will be blown away by the prices these things go for...well north of $800 USD.

Best.
Onur

I also was initially blown away by the pricing but when you look at them closely, there is a lot of work that goes into the airbox and resonator. Probably over 50 different parts that require assembly. Things like the nipple fittings that come off the airbox. You'd think they just be molded plastic like the rest of the airbox but some of the nipples are actually metal. One part I find  is how the intake hose goes from flexible rubber to rigid plastic, seamlessly.

My cyclonic housing--I think I'll keep her!

yeah, i realised after i'd posted, but thought the pics of the LS3 would be of interest.

Les, yeah i disassembled the whole thing when i checked out the MAF sensor and the throttle body (spotless). Darren (the guy you purchased it from) also installed an xede piggy back ECU (xede.com.au) when he went with the K&N system he bought. It's on my list too. There are many parts with this system, and yes the nipples for the various hoses. A lot of design has obviously gone into this.
Gotta love the Japanese for being pedantic or fastidious.
The snorkel is my bottleneck now....and i'll probably do that mod i posted about thats on the 4wdaction.com.au website. Or remove the older Safari snorkel completely.

The right parts arrived this time :) Apart from needing to relocate the PS fluid reservoir the air flow sensor wires needed extending a little as well. The clogged filter sensor outlets are there on mine so I had to block those off.

I happen to come across a lead for a 2006 cyclonic airbox with the resonator piping for the V8. I'm not 100% sure it'll fit but I think so. I only see one part number for all years for this resonator. Maybe Oz didn't get the 2006 VVTI engine?

Anyway, they want AUS$500/delivered (any US address). It costs over $100 to ship. AUS$500 is about US$525 right now. PM me and I'll give you his contact info.

Bringing this back up because I was wondering if an 80 cyclonic canister would work. Is the resonator piping the main difference? I know the overall size is somewhat different but just wondered if there wasnt an easier and cheaper way.

i received a PM from someone asking about this hoser, and i didn't know the price as i'd hooked you up with Darren PArker.

anyway, i replied in my PM that this was on Oz eBay

this is in part my reply.

......

there is a V8 LC100 being "parted" in Tasmania on Oz eBay
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....#ht_500wt_1156

now it says it has ended, but the guy only put it there to advertise he was wrecking/parting it.
Ph: number is
+61 3 63442344

If he won't ship to California, ask him how much he wants for the airbox after you chat with hoser discussing exactly what you need. You'll probably need everything from the intake through to the inner guard.

i might be able to buy it for you as he will ship interstate in Australia to me and then i can forward it to you and you cover my postage costs.

......

i didnt get a reply from the original PM'er.

happy to do that if anyone wants to
cheers

edit: Les (hoser) i'm pretty sure the VVTI system will be the same edit2: yes you are correct, the VVTI wasn't released here on the LC100 even though you got it. I dont know about the Lexus equivalent though. I'm reasonably certain that the 4.7L V8 VVTI came here first in the 200 series, but as i said i dont know if it was here in the LX470....
