Greetings fellow forum members,
My 96 cruiser (98k miles) started missing on initial cold start up about a month ago. The miss would subside after a few seconds. Then last week she started using a little water. Two days ago it started starting hard; like a weak battery or bad connection. Neither is the case(vehicle is meticulously maintained). I suspect the worst based on my vast but not expert mechanical knowledge: blown head gasket, cracked head. It's at my mechanic now and he said it might be due to electrolisis(never overheated or over worked the vehicle). This cruiser has the big aluminum 6.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what did you do to keep it from occuring again.

Thanks,

Todd in Tampa

It is hard to tell that there is a significant problem based on your description. Since it is a '96, check if it throws any OBD-II codes and do a compression test. That would be the best indications if anything serious is wrong.

You might try this in the 80's section. Is there water in the oil? Could be the PPH( Pesky Heater Hose), check out the FAQ on top of the 80's forum.
