Is this a good 96 cruiser to buy?

And you travelled to Washington just to look at the truck posted in this thread?
well it wasnt just to look at the truck. me and my friends also have been wanting to travel somewhere outside of california for a while so this was a perfect opportunity to do that with me buying the truck being a possibility. I would never travel that far to just look at a car im not 100% sure on buying haha

my intuition told me to walk away from the deal but i needed more opinions

Follow your gut.
If this is what your gut says, and you find issues after you buy it, you'll kick yourself forever. BTDT

There's always another deal to be found.
Look at it as the seller wants your money more than you need their truck

There are better trucks mileage and condition wise, for cheaper, within 100 miles of you. Looking outside of California for a stockish FZJ80 is foolish if you live in LA. Cost to transport back home, risk of not passing smog, and rust.....

Back in the middle of Nov. 2024 I paid $12.5k for a '94 350k clean body, no rust, triple locked, rebuilt engine with 4k on it and all new interior (carpet, seats (new heated seats installed, side door covers, etc.) no leaks the thing is clean. So there's a reference for you but obviously whatever you're able to work with and how long you you're willing to wait. I was looking all last summer for a '99-'00 3rd gen 4runner that was close enough but ended up settling with this rig since it was too hard to pass up

Lol you settled for a triple locked 80 with a rebuilt engine over a 3rd gen 4runner

Keep an eye on the classifieds here. I have said it many times and still stand by the fact that sellers here are the best. Honest descriptions, quality trucks, and likely you are walking away with a good Cruiser and a new lifelong friend.

Interview the seller more than the car.

Good luck! Buy something and share on the forum!
