Looking for a snorkel for my truck.

Safari snorkels run around $450 on eBay (excluding shipping) and I have yet to confirm that they actually have one for my truck.

This one Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series LC II 2dr 4dr SNORKEL: eBay Motors is a lot cheaper but requires you get some of your own items (no big deal).

Any recommendations?

Any thoughts on the ebay item out of Malaysia?

shipping and duty might kill the deal.
Depends on what you want to do I guess.
If its for water crossing I would go the safari route.
Seal the whole thing with RTV on every joint to make sure you won't get any water ingestion.
Where are you located?

Howdy! There seems to be alot of "less expensive" snorkels and fender flairs coming out of Malaysia/Indonisia? Prices are pretty good, but nobody has posted up details of fitment and durability. Plastics tend to die an early death around here in the Sonoran Desert, so I am kind of holding back for some consumer input. John

Safari snorkels.
Love hate relationship for me.
they ARE durable.
they actually fit "okay"
template is a POS so check, then double check then check again BEFORE drilling any holes.

i would be tempted to try the ones from India or China for my next one. $450 for $35 of material is a screwing.

I didnt even use a template for my safari snorkel i didnt have one because i got the snorkel 2nd hand.
It fits, looks good but i havent even been in deep water to try it out yet;)

when you are drilling a 3 1/4" hole in a customers truck ...
well...

you really don't want to screw up.

Where are you located?

Just north of Toronto.

Going to email the Malaysian vendor and see what he comes back with for shipping.

Will keep you posted.

FED-Ex and UPS are the devils...... The like to make up their own duty rates...

let me take a look at the KZ in the shop...
couple years back i retro fitted a snorkel for a HZ to a LJ and it worked like a charm and it had a funky air box. this one (in my minds eye) has the similar to the HD air box configuration...

if you want me to, cheers

I am in Malaysia and I think I now the company behind the supply of those snorkels. They look like a direct copy of Airtec or Safari.

Years ago these 'copy' snorkels were well known not to be robust as the Australians units. Eg. not bending back into shape if hitting a tree branch.

Now I dunno about the ones advertised on ebay, seems the materials have improved..or the claims anyway.

I don't have time to visit the shop where they are being sold to see 1st hand. If any of the other guys in Malaysia have tme to see 1st hand I believe the supplier is Mun Lee Auto in Puchong.
