Here is something else I have experienced. WHen I had my problem very similar to yours in my 92/94 LC I had a spare ignitor and left it installed after I got the truck to run. Soon, I started getting the MIL to turn on and similar to your problem I was getting DTCs 25 & 26. So compred the serial numbers of the ignitors they were not the same, went back to the old ignitor problem solved. So if it is possible that your ignitor is still suspect and is actually triggering Ox codes.

Please see post #26 and the result in post #33.

:)

yup..

still running great.
none of my local parts houses rent timing lights or tachs. I'm going to rely on the dash tach and I've purchased a cheapy timing light.. I put some miles on it timing it by ear. I'm pretty sure I'm real close but I'd like to put it on the mark...

when it rains it pours.

about 150miles after (err, maybe a little less, somewhere in there) the new distributor, my brakes failed..

I'm sure it is possible to find a worse time than rush hour traffic through Houston, but it wasn't pleasant..

Upon initial inspection there was a steady (new) stream of brake fluid running down between the master cylinder and the brake booster.. (has to be leaking from the MC and escaping through the MC seal, and in fact, the MC seal was in bad shape..)

no prob, get an aftermarket (turned out to be oem aisin(sp)..

while bleeding the system I notice that my catastrophic failure was not the MC, but was due to a rubber flex line rupture.. although the MC was leaking, badly..

so now I'm waiting on parts. one of our favorite HTown Mud guys is getting me parts tomorrow...

Thanks for all the help. The FSM makes more sense when someone can point out the obvious, the obscure and the undocumented..

I've been experiencing this problem. The other day it wouldnt start for about an hour. Then all of sudden it just fired up when I turned the key. So yea, I'm sitting here stuck.... any thoughts?

Did it die while driving or just wouldn't start after shutting it off?

The EFI relay (under the hood fuse box) is known for not wanting to open (or is it shut?) when it gets hot. The close proximity to the exhaust manifold causes it to get hot, especially in hot temperatures and running for a while. If it starts after cooling down or by swapping in another EFI relay then the solution is to upgrade to the Camry EFI relay or to relocate it to the interior. I'm cheap so I relocated mine. @jonheld upgraded his to the Camry relay but he's rich and moved on to a Lexus now so... (that's expensive merlot Jon is toasting)

The relay is already relocated. I had the same situation last week. I changed out the relay. No change. But in my back up ignitor which I know works. No change. All this time all the proper lights are on in the dash during normal operation.

I went through and replaced the fusible link as it was probably original. This problem of not starting is intermittent. It runs fine for a while and now it's sitting in the driveway refusing to start. I'll bet I go out there tomorrow morning and it fires right up. Been through Johns and honestly it's above my head.

Just dropping in to say how much I appreciate the knowledge sharing that goes on here! Jon's writeup helped me solve my no start on 91! Thanks @jonheld !

Try the EFI relay first. I had the same problem and the EFI relay was the culprit. Buy 2 and keep an extra one in the glove box. They are only about $10.

A follow up to my issue. The wires feeding my fuel pump had been rubbing on the pump assembly. I re did the wires, put in the nicest fuel pump o could find and did a shrink wrap in the wires. For the life of me I could not figure out why it was intermittent. Boom!

Does anyone have the write up from Jon Held's site? The site is no longer active and I'm having a similar problem so it would help to see the workflow on how to narrow down the issue.

His site is active. The "tlc" in the web address is all caps now ("TLC").
