Well, progress has been slow, but I've got the motor and trans out, and have the front axle sprung over and back in. The rear has to be converted to center diff from offset diff to work with the dodge trans, I think the angle would be too much of a bind for the u-joints to handle.

Yay for Oxy-Acetyline torches!!! The motor must come out!!!

No more axles! Be sure your jacks are in the proper position, because when you remove the engine the front end gets REALLY light, and sometimes the truck will "wheelie" so it's sitting on its bumper!!

Working on the axles

That's one heavy son of a gun!!! Anybody need an A440F??

I'll be out of town for the next week, so it'll be a good time to get that rear axle cut and centered I guess. Looking forward to getting the wheels back under it.

Got to work on the truck for about an hour today, pulled apart the rear axle for the 3.73 swap, thanks to mel lowe.

When I pulled the cover I heard the "tink" of something metal moving in the diff, and wondered what it could be.

WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS IT DOING IN THERE?!?!?!?

Thankfully there's no damage at all, but I can't think for the life of me why it was in there. Those gears sheared it in half without a problem though!!

Using the Yota axles now?

As always its nice to see progress. Keep it up.

Yea, swapped the Dodge I was going to use for a newer 2wd with an overdrive trans. I'll have to get a t-case to run with it eventually. The dodge I was using was a dog, this one is drivable and in pretty decent shape.

Not the best situation but it'll allow me to get on the road faster.

hmm, don't plan on being on the road anytime soon ;)
Just kidding, work like a madman and don't give up. It will be SOOO worth it in the end and you will wonder why you didn't get it done sooner.

Right Steve?

Hahaha, pretty much. All the guys with 6BTs in their cruisers should meet up and go wheeling sometime.

Looking good newt! Just keep it up and try to win all the small battles that you will come across every day when you decide to spend a few minutes on your "project".

The end result is a dream come true!

Yeah, ordering some parts for it today, can't wait to get them in as it's been painful not being able to do anything while waiting for them.

I keep dreaming about what it'll be like rolling down the road in the 62.

I just did this over the weekend and I still watch it over and over!:steer::)

That's my son who started it. When then proceeded to drive around the yard then the whole end of the county for about an hour. Nothing like it!

Nice!!!! That's AWESOME!!! My high steer kit, knuckle rebuild kit and perches will be here soon, then the I've just gotta do the t-case, and drive shafts, and .... It's gonna be a little while.

Did you use the toyota or dodge power steering? I'm trying to figure our how I'll go about doing that and the a/c as well.

I know the high pressure line from my toyota steering box threaded right into the saginaw pump that was on my 6BT.

You should see if you can reuse your HP line with your current pump. The saginaw pump is much better than the stock FJ60 PS pump.

Sweet! Thanks for the info. Next I've gotta check on the A/C.

Military M-37 Might Be The Ticket for Your Setup . Mine has Volvo TGB 303 Portal Axles,That 6BT Sounds Like What I Need

Nice rig man! I'm looking for an m-37 case, finding various other NP's that are offset locally, so I may just go with one of those if no 200's are around.

Got a little bit done lately. Finally got studs that fit. Had to dig through all the ones pep boys had and special order the ones that fit. Still waiting on the rest to come in.

But I got the rear axle all put back together, after wire-wheeling it, priming and two coats of black.

Pardon the crappy cell phone pic.

Next I've got to do the same with the front axle and rebuild the knuckles, then it'll be standing on it's own feet again. After that I'll start the motor/trans swap.
