I have an 87 FJ60 with ~120 miles. It was recently "totaled"by insurance company after I was driving down the road and hit by another vehicle. The damage was estimated at 5500 and therefore insurance has deemed it a total loss.
I have been negotiating with them for several weeks and have gone back and forth in my mind several times about what I should do - i.e. keep it and try to fix it (I assume that if collision shop would fix for $5500, it could probably be fixed for much cheaper), keep it and part it out, or let them take her (which just hurts).
The damage is to the passenger side quarter panel, wheel and involves the steering linkage and the leaf springs on the passenger side. The oil pan was damaged as well. If you search under my prior posts, you can see a picture of the damage.
Unfortunately, i just do not have the time to take on the project of repairing it or even parting it
It has a relatively new powering steering pump, 2" OME lift, and H55 tranny with ~40K miles.
It will cost me $1200 to "buy it" back from insurance with a salvage title. Before I let them take her, i wanted to see if there was any interest from somebody in purchasing her for rebuilding or parting - either of which would make me feel better than giving her to the insurance co.
I would obviously need more than $1200 and you would be responsible for transportation ( I am just outside of Charlotte, NC)
