think about it, your truck is a fixed hardtop right?
a FACTORY BJ74 is a removable fiberglass top.
a FACTORY BJ74 is a 2 door mid wheel base FOLD DOWN windshield vehicle
the only thing that is BJ74 on your truck is the frame and drivetrain, the body is a modified BJ70 cab.

fawk it, kids know everything. enjoy your truck and enjoy your fantasy that it was factory made that way.

I came on here to get help, not be critisized by professed knowledgeable importers who cant afford to bring any more land cruisers into the country. The price is up on them. Not my problem the party is over on cheap imports. Mine grows in value every day. I dont care if i sell it. Someone asks me every day. I got offered 25k and turned it down so whatever buddy. Stop being jelouse. If you dont like helping me and want to be a smart a$$ go ahead but I know what i have and what value it has. I just thought you guys may be interested in the mine thing here. Did not need the bi#%h smart mouth.

I never once said i knew everything about it. Only what i could find. It was perfectly plausable that the truck was a prototype that did not go to production. It is a factory toyota. Perhaps it was modified by a third party as you claim but i have not proof of that but your rude and ignorant ranting.

There is no way this vehicle was not built by toyota. They would have to have bought the truck from toyota and modified the Cab if that is what you mean. your story does not make any sense. A shop down the street builds a Toyota and puts Toyota on it? Get real.

This would not be the first time Toyota has had another shop build a body for them. The original FJ45LV 4 door trucks were not produced by Toyota. Basically a company got a 45 truck frame and front clip and attached there body as needed. And look at all the 4 door 75 Series trucks down in South Africa that are produced by other companies than Toyota. Original trucks from the Toyota factory were used for these conversions...so yes the VIN should point back to the factory, however it does not mean that Toyota maid the body themselves.

Hi, Not taking sides at all here , because I dont know, but if you go to a Toyota site it shows an early 70 series 4 door model ,with a chrome bumper on front.Production period 1984- With right hand drive .What is this model ? Mike

Well that may be the case. I dont have a problem with that, just with mickey mouse importers who all sling BS and think their sh$% dont stink. So if i understand this, it is a prototype. Toyota simply had another company fashion the body. It was in fact built by toyota, but modified for some purpose. I highly doubt for customer wanting a family wagon. this thing is an amazing 4x4. I have personally seen a 2 door BJ74 that was lifted and identical in almost every way...aside of course the removable top and fold down window. Regardless of its modifications, toyota indeed copied it so to me that makes it unique.

you came on here to brag about your truck ... perfectly fine. it is a cool truck, one of very few.
you got the model correct and followed the vin back to Toyota ... perfectly fine
you then went on to say FACTORY LIFT ... i went on to correct you and you got your panties in a knot instead of doing some research to prove me right or wrong.
you were right that it was a prototype. you were INCORRECT that toyota built it and once again got all defensive.
i know these trucks much better than most. i know your truck body style because i did the research on it before i chanced buying one.
i never did sell "cheap imports", i only sold highend imports and still do.
you come on as a know it all punk ass kid and you will get called down over it.

welcome to mud, enjoy and post up some pics.

seriously, you do not think that they sell after market lift kits in Japan?

LOL, there you go again running your mouth. I never bragged about anything, simply stated the facts as i was able to find them. I could care less about what you claim to know. Insulting me makes you look like a real good buisness man. Big shot importer eh. How many 74's do you have for sale today big shot?

So it was lifted after...big deal. Does not depreciate it in any way. So what if i was wrong (which you have not convinced me of). I was not trying to sell it, simply asking questions if you refer to my origional post. Your the one who got huffy cause it was something you did not buy or sell. Call me names like that to my face you would not!

child,
i do not sell BJ74s, they are out of style now and have been for about 5 years. if you knew the market as you claim then you would know this as well.

it isn't a matter of depreciation, it is a matter of a fact you claimed. i corrected you and you couldn't accept that maybe you were incorrect.

"Call me names like that to my face you would not!" seriously? you think this is a cock fight or something? grow up

enjoy your rare truck.

LOL your own post advertizing luxuryimports...an importer who is selling a BJ70 1987 for $28k with $50 worth of tires on it. Its half the truck mine is. This is proof you are totally full of sh#$ pal.

Agian, i am simply stating fact. You would not talk to me like that to my face. That my fantasy friend is a fact.

HAHAHA..The 70 series are the toughest and most reliable trucks out there. You dont sell them cause they are out of style...hahahaha. Keep digging the hole bud. Anyone reading this will know that someone asking 28k for a tinker toy BJ70 (when put beside my lifted PTO winch, extended bumper LX 74 model) and claiming mine is out of style as a reason for not selling them..hahahaha. Good luck selling your mitsu's and thanks for giving me real reason to brag.

So much mud slinging and etc etc

Pictures please this is sounding like REDOCTOBER all over again.

Please put your truck up against my LJ77 if you want to boast it will be GOD winch vs your PTO winch.

Please do not call a BJ70 a tinker toy they are a very capable truck.

I did not realize this was such a machismo site and folks were so sensitive. The truck he is selling is a tinker toy compared to my 74. It has not lift, no tires, no winch... It needs upgrades to compare which is my point. He berated me when i said what i would ask for it while he is asking the same for less. The guy was insulting me as well and trying to make me look stoopid so i retaliated. I came on here to ask for mechanical advice not compare my truck with anyone. I really dont care what others have (although i do apreciate a nice rig). I only care about folks who can help me answer questions and concerns and share some reason with.

Anywho, i use my truck for hunting fishing, boatin and such. It is a regularly drivin truck that happens to be unique. I dont typically brag or take pictures of it. I can but consider it a waste of my time. There is an early pic of it above when i bought it. Since have rebuilt/replaced upgraded alot of it as i do use the truck. The truck looks better now as i got rid of chrome and put real tires and suspension parts on it..a few more scratches and wear and tear from cruising but otherwise its in great shape. It only lacks lockers and its pretty much unstopable..much like many other landcruisers.

I really think you insulted one of the people who could assist you here.

So stop being smug and post up before and after pics so we can see what a GREAT rare truck this is whats so hard or has the cat got hold of your computer mouse and you can only type?

A landcruiser without LOCKERs is stoppable and actually quite easy unless you can drive really well or the mud is just too deep or the slope too STEEP.

So you don't care what others have maybe we can treat you the same its a nice forum.
