If you want that kind of jake out of a mid 80s 2LT mini truck, some really detailed photos and history of the truck would be extremely helpful. Im not personally interested, just giving constructive feedback given this is a forum full of well educated (and mostly cheap) Toyota experts. Food for thought...GLWS

yeah pictures needed and much more info. Can anyone confirm toyota sold the hilux in the usa ever?

All US trucks were hilux's until they dropped it and introduced the Tacoma in '95

I thought they were called "mini trucks" prior to the taco's? I've never heard anyone call a US truck a hilux before.

What kind of trades are you wanting? Gubs possibly?

That's incorrect: In North America, the Hilux name was fully phased out in favor of "Truck" by that year, having been dropped from brochures and advertising starting in 1973.

Hmm, I thought Toyota just called them Pickups in the USA.

Correct: Production Aug 1978–1983 was the US called the Toyota Trucks "pickups"

I can confirm this for you. I have two 1984 U.S. Spec. Toyota LN65 longbed 4x4 diesel pickups. Generally, the models sold originally in the U.S. have an EPA tag affixed to the underside of their hoods. The sticker is theoretically required for out-of-state first-time vehicle / VIN inspections to obtain California titling and registration. When I bought mine, I looked for this sticker's presence among other things. Here is a pic, showing what it looks like:
