As the title says my front end is extremely squeaky when making turns either left or right (sounds exactly like a squeaky door on a horror movie!). My friend who had the truck for the last 2 years said that he had every thing "tightened" up on the front end and it just need to be lubed? if so what needs to get the grease? I brought it to jiffy lube and had the chassis lubed thought this would catch it but it's still squeaky. Also while I am still on the topic, have I been spoiled by my land cruiser's power steering, turning the steering wheel on 85' truck is HARD, I am running stock size tires on it now, and no p/s. Thanks.

I think they mean that the springs are squeeking, lube between the leaves.
Make sure that the U bolts are tight.

There is a known issue for Toyota trucks that may be causing the squeak. There are a few bolt-like things near the front axle that limit the amount the axle can move when you turn the steering wheel. They should have a plastic cap on the bolt head that acts as a cushion andprevents squeaks. These caps tend to wear out or even fall of causing a squeak usually when turning and hitting a small bump, turning into a driveway for example. The caps can be lubed with some grease to prevent this.

Yes, as RWD mentioned, just smear some grease on the steering stops and you will be good to go. Do not bother replacing the plastic things, they will wear out rapidly and you will still end up greasing the stops. HTH.

thanks!!!, what kind of grease will I need?

Just use whatever you use when you lube up your driveshaft, multipurpose, moly grease whatever will work. It is exposed to all the elements so it will wash off eventually, the way you will know is that the squeek will return, then you just rub a little grease on it again. It is sort of a rigged up fix but it works, is cheap, and is fast and easy. HTH.

Not that hard to add power steering. Are you planning to do a suspension lift? If not you can probably find some one who has pulled off a stock ps box. bolt up a pump and resevoir and you're set. If you're going to lift it, you should get a ps box from an ifs truck and add crossover steering.

If you are going to install PS I would consider also doing cross-over steering. The main difference is the gear box ... and IFS box instead of the solid axle box. Obviously, the easy way out is use the solid axle box, but after having the cross-over installed on my truck there was no looking back.
