I'm not having much luck, and could used some advice.

1992 4runner. I purchased Cardone 66-5009 axle assemblies. There are two seperate seals(inner and outer) that seal the cv axle on the back side of the spindle. I have trouble with both of them.

The larger seal(outer) is mounted to the cv axle and seals into the larger diameter of the spindle. My new cv axles had this seal pre installed. However, the rubber OD part is too big to fit into the back side of the spindle.

This picture is to show the back side. Disregard the inner seal in this pic.

The old seal ID doesn't really fit my new cv. The dia of it is 75.8mm, where my oem is 76mm. So it's loose.

You can see how much bigger the rubber is.

Well, I have a new 90304-76005 but the OD of the metal part of it is too small. It interferes with the back side of the spindle before the rubber engages.

So, the 76005 isn't right, but what should I get that fits? It's a shame the one that came on the cv axle is wrong, as I thought all along I had what I needed and only thought I needed to find the inner seals(see the next post)

Here is the new and old outer seals that show the difference in the steel part.

Part 2

And then there's a smaller seal that mounts into the spindle assy that seals on the smaller diameter of the cv shaft.

It's marked 60x77x9 like it's a common seal, but it doesn't seem to be available.

I thought it was item 3, since it mounts into the spindle, so i bought it. Well, 90316-60002 is discontinued, so I got it's replacement.

Well, it's the outer seal i mentioned above that doesn't fit.

So I still need to find the inner seal too.

Now, back to part 1...

I pushed on the new seal I got from cardone, and the extra rubber sort of folds back and it "popped" into place. So, maybe it's gonna be OK.

So, if i just go with that, I still need the 60x77x9 inners. As I mentioned, that's not a standard size anymore apparently. Well, and internet search turned up a couple of options in the UK, but my napa dealer said it's a bad size.

But 60x75x8 is.

My housing actually does measure 75mm but I'm just a little unsure. I'm worried it would be loose, but I might go ahead and order a couple.
