Just starting a slight rebuild of '81 fj. Want to drop the fuel tank for service. Any thing I should know first? Safety issues?

Referring to handling the fuel lines without damage. Steps and procedures someone else may have experienced. Things I may need to look for. etc.

if its the tank under the body just the common sense stuff, drain the fuel first, watch out for the piles of dirt that will come out with it and get in your eyes and you'll be fine, don't forget to mark the hoses so you know where they all came from

I see a drain plug on the bottom. Uses a socket drive. Anyone ever try that or should I stay away from trying to remove it and damaging the tank.

Just tried to loosen it. 3/4 " drive. Turns easy enough. Will wheel it outside tomorrow and drain the tank.

Use Personal protective equipment like rubber gloves, face shield, goggles, and no smoking. Dont huff the gaoline either.
