Sweet rig!

Enjoy it

Hi everybody,

I've been lurking for the last year since getting our 80, searching to my hearts content every time we've had an issue, trying to figure out what to do next as we take a good hard look at wants vs. needs. Nothing has satisfied my desire to get off the beaten path like this little guy, love it to death and love that I can clean up the contacts on a 20 year old car and generally get back on the road.

It's a:
'93 FZJ80
My Name's Mark-Anthony
The rig has no name, just referred to as "the truck"
194500 miles and counting
No Mods unless you count tires:)
Mostly a kid, parts, materials shuffler and upcoming roadtrip cruiser

*** Currently messing around with an intermittent stall after dealer service......... (I took it to them to make the wife feel secure on this upcoming 1000 mile trip through the desert)***

Here she is:

8 year LC owner, newly registered here on the forums. Thanks for all the great info and advice constantly being shared by everyone here.

I have a 1997 stock FZJ80 40th Anniversary. This is my second 40th. The first one, #2776, was unlocked and succumbed to rust from living in the snow, sold it for a steal. I had a 1992 white FJ80 that never gave me any issues, and an 03 River Rock J100 that didnt do much for excitement.

Not a huge off roader yet, but am wanting to build a medium trail rig 80 series before next may and start learning how to ride trails. Open to any suggestions as always. I use my LC mainly on weekends. My job provides me with a very nice 4x4 work rig to use as my daily driver. (see below)

I enjoy driving/owning the most reliable and capable vehicle on the planet.

CDL Switch/ 285's
Daily Driver / Adventure Team Vehicle / Sniper Mobile

I actually purchased the 80 in 2006 from a good friend who is really into 80's
He fully PM'd the truck before I bought it, between purchasing the FSM and trolling on here for far too long I have kept it up. (Thank You C-Dan!)

So... it has been paid off for some time and is now screaming out for modification.

The pic is from a couple of years ago on what I call "The Great Toyota Expedition to Waynoka Oklahoma, Little Sahara State Park"

There are actually several 80's running around here in the Wichita, KS area, a few are modded up.

Custom leather and duct tape seats... No mods yet, will be refreshing some stuff before I get into modding it. Planned mods include CDL/Pin 7, Treadwright tires, plasti-dip wheels replace the tired factory speakers and head unit.

Will be used for a winter vehicle and just for fun. Maybe eventually more of a DD.

This is my first LC I have always loved the look and am finally in spot where I can afford :)rolleyes:) to have a hobby vehicle. It needs some tlc but that is what I was looking for and for the price I paid I feel pretty good about it.

3. no name yet
4. 137K
5. Bought it locally with the ARB, winch (which has never been used), 285/75/R16 Duratracs, Sliders and the OME Heavy Lift. Had a stack of reciepts, and it was the PO 6th Cruiser. When he pulled it out of the garage there was a collage of pictures on the back wall of all his previous Cruisers.

Since purchase in May, I have had the rear driveshaft rebuilt, replaced the belts, fluids in diffs, trans, and transfer case, new rear rotors and pads. The front axle needs to be rebuilt soon, and I think I will need to replace at least one birf.

As far as Mods go, I replaced the rear heavy OME springs with a medium set (no bumper yet), added the CDL switch and pin 7 mod, added the factory cup holder, tinted front windows with 18% bronze tint, and the slee headlight harness with 9011/9012 bulbs is sitting on the work bench waiting for enough time to install.

Future mods include Slee rear bumper with swingouts, slee 4" or 850J's with spacers, 35's, 4:88 gears, chromoly axles, ARB lockers, new leather, and the list grows every hour I spend on MUD :hillbilly:

This is my first cruiser, although I learned to drive in a 60, parents had an 80, and a 100.

Hi Here is my FJZ80

Here it is.
My FJZ 80.
Rubicon tested this past week.
Small damage. Nothing serious. Just the ripped roof gutter really.

I cheated and bought it pretty much done with Slee lift, rear bumper and rock sliders from Hanna. It has full ARB air lockers, Secondary Air Compressor, Dual Batteries. I added the 12k winch, Autohome camper top, Lights, Ham Radio, CB (useless) radio, fridge.

I now will repair Rubicon damage, (full removal of stupid fender flairs) and rain gutter rip.

Thanks for all the help getting through the Rubicon from the TLCA folks and the great parties they put on this weekend. I will be back.

Cheers
BillyDee.

Upgrade :)

Ditched the old 1990 model, got an offer I could not refuse.

Bought this 1992, 1FZ-FE, locked and loaded very recently.

Plans to throw in some 33's, 2 inch lift, ARB bumpers and snorkel for starters.
