Newbie with '97 LX 450

Just Purchased my first LC. Say.....Newbie:flipoff2:
'97 LX 450

Name is Michael

The Beast (What my wife calls it). I call it The BAT (Big Ass Truck).

127,000 Miles

No Mods yet (except LT 285/75 R16's from previous owner). I'm busy base-lining fluids and changing out other components that are in need. I just put in a big order with CruiserDan at American Toyota. He was prompt and very helpful. I'm also getting a lot of help from my friend and Mud member 'Fly Rod'.

I love flyfishing and this will take me to some great isolated locations. Otherwise it will be my daily vehicle. Gas mileage woes be damned! I've had those puking, cardboard body, fuel savers that ride hard, and loud; handled poorly and had no fricking character. I'll spend the extra $ on fuel to feel the growl and power of my new 'Big-Ass' truck. And I know if I take care of it, I'll get another 200-300k miles out of it.

Besides, isn't there some universal law that says all things must be in balance, or something like that? I feel I will be helping balance all those Priuses, Hybrids, and electric tinker toys out there on the road. Someone has to make that sacrifice. Right?

Cheers from a Newbie ************
Michael

No Mods to date, although October they begin, starting with new paint job, custom interior, stereo, slee bumpers front and back, and an overhaul of engine and drive train. Debating the switch up to the V8, but truck runs so smoothly already might just upgrade computer and injectors and see how it runs from there.

Vehicle is being built as an on off road ultimate roadtrip vehicle, hope to drive it all over Canada and the US including a trip up to the Artic circle.

Been wanting a cruiser for years, can't remember the last time I was this excited about a vehicle.:flipoff2:Yes I'm a noob....
