According to the PO it needs to be rebuilt. I'll be looking into getting it fixed, since it's OEM.

Great looking rig. The po probably messed with the screws and broke the solders. There are vids on the ‘tube that document repair steps. Tricky stuff.

Don’t let those tantalizing little screws tempt you. Don’t mess with them.

Check the solders.

Yea, I'll leave the MAF to the pros. I've got plenty of other things to tinker with 😉

Straight traded my 2004 V8 4Runner a few weeks ago for this, my dream vehicle... Only problem is the previous owner totally misrepresented this vehicle and I should've hopped back in the 4Runner and drove back home. But I was blinded by finally getting my 80 Series, and stupidly followed through on the trade (not realizing how expensive parts are for these things). All he told me prior to meeting was that the AC needed to be fixed. No big deal, I thought. Turns out it needed quite a bit more, which thankfully my buddy is helping me address. Shoddy Maaco paint job, but atleast there's no rust. There was no fan shroud, and the AC coil was caked with gunk (now the AC works beautifully). Front diff didn't have a drop of fluid in it, so I have a new one on the way along with knuckle rebuild kits including Trail Safe wiper seals. Slight leak at rear main seal which I'll address at some point. Shifter had trouble staying in gear even after replacing bushings - new shifter will be here today. Drivers seat broken at the metal bracket where the back and bottom meet, meaning permanent gangsta lean - new Scat seats just came in yesterday. But hey, it has over $5k in ARB bumpers and a Warn winch lol. It's like the dude totally neglected mechanical maintenance and just focused on making it look pretty but never took it on the trails. So now my broke a$$ is trying to fix everything. Meanwhile he got my meticulously maintained 2UZ-FE V8 4Runner with 144k miles that I spent a lot of time and money modding out. Dumb, I know, but here we are...

1. Year and model: 1992 FJ80
2. Name of owner: Chris
3. Name of rig: Cliffhanger (Wife liked the name, and I want to drive it off a cliff with how much money it's cost so far lol)
4. Mileage: 184k
5. Mods: ARB bumpers front and rear, 3" ICON lift, Method 17" wheels with Falken Wildpeak 285/70R17 tires (these were from my 4Runner - dude wanted to swap wheels because he liked his Black Rhinos so much but now they're rubbing on the 4Runner lol - I'll eventually get bigger tires)
6. How the truck is used: Daily driver, eventually weekend off-roading once I feel it's up to par

Nice cruiser. Someone will probably mistake it for a 4Runner anyway. Despite the misrepresentation, you have a sweet cruiser. Also, karma is a bitch. He’ll get his.

Honestly, mechanical you can fix but you got a solid platform to build from and now you know everything will be done right! I get it though it’s hard to walk away from an 80 when you really want one.
