Hi all... posted in the forum a few times already so I might as well put my car in here. Long time Toyota guy but this is actually my first Landcruiser. Got obsessed with them after watching too many australian 4WD shows over the last years. :D Was initially looking for a 100 or 200 but then picked up this 80 towards the end of last year, spent a lot of hours on it already but its all part of the fun.

4. 128k miles
5. BFG 33s and a few electronic upgrades but focus on maintainance, replacing and restoring factory parts right now

Looks clean!
Original owner was Toyota employee then service manager at a dealership for 20+ years before taking an ownership/management stake at a Harley dealership where I worked. He took AMAZING care of this vehicle for 300k+ miles. I was extremely lucky to be first in line when he decided to get something new in 2020. I bought it, drove it for 6 months, then had to store it for a few years. Now I've brought it out to New Mexico since I retired.(California vehicle)

Nice looking truck my Khmer family. Welcome to the darkside. Is she triple locked?
Happy new Year by the way.
Susadei! Happy new year! Thank you! 🙏🏼

She's not currently triple locked. Hopefully by the end of this year. I'm in the market for 94+ complete axles. If you know anyone or a place that has them for sale, please let me know. 🤙🏼

Hi All!
I've already posted a few times, maybe now time for a official registry intro :) I grew up with a 1991 HDJ80 that my family had for a very long time. Spent thousands of hours in that car as a kid, also pretty much the first car I ever drove myself. Now supper happy owner of a rust free FZJ80! I got her about a year ago and she's kept me busy. Engine didn't run initially, and because of all the things. Suspension also had lots of quirks. After all types of maintenance and troubleshooting, finally 🤞approaching some state of reliability, driving stability and comfort.
I got her out of Miami Florida and trailered all the way back to Utah. I've travelled quite a bit across Utah and beyond with her, but 99% so far on the trailer as reliability, confidence and comfort just wasn't there. Now looking forward to some first longer trips!
Going forward I don't plan any big changes, mostly planning to improve the overall condition with further fixing remaining little issues.

- 3.5" OME lift (well, maybe 2" + front spacers and low weight)
- flipped radius arms
- custom VAF-to-MAF conversion (separate thread coming)
- 37s, no re-gear and I love it
- e-locker in the rear
- home made light high clearance front bumper with hitch mount for winch
- really cool paint job, I think 😍
6. Mostly offroad day trips, some light rock crawling, driving around town for fun

In the Arizona strip! Explored it extensively over the new years break. Never getting further than a day hike away from the trailer or some other settlement, though ;)

Happy place - on the trailer!

Not sure if I should add this, but here we go: This is me at about 18 years old, having just spent the past day or two under the hood of the HDJ80, trying to get the turbocharger out to fix an issue with the wastegate preventing it from making proper boost. First somewhat more involved car repair I've done. This was in the early 2000s. Still happy every time I hear a 1HD-T running! ♥️

3. as yet un-named
4. 167K
5. ARB bumper, OME stock height springs/shocks, and a pile of stuff in the garage
6. Will be daily driver and fun 4wd / camping truck

The odometer is probably wrong as it has been going with uncorrected 285 tires for a good while from the PO. While not quite as "needs nothing" as the seller stated it to be, it is a solid truck. It came with a rear ARB locker (new in a box) but I had to sell that to make up for all the parts I have had to purchase already...where is my holiday card CDan???

Have cleaned the inside for what must be the first time in years, cleaned the undercarriage and painted some minor surface rust on axles/suspension/steering parts, installed the stock height OME springs, shocks, steering stablizier, fixed a few minor things like washer fluid and an oil change and adding grease here and there.

PO did the headgasket work and top end rebuild/valve job and said he changed all the driveline fluids.

I am about to dive into a full rear axle service with seals/bearings/brake calipers and pads and do a brake fluid flush (what appeared to be a leaking caliper is a puking axle seal), oh and replace the rubber parts around the cargo sliding window (got a nice leak).

Future plans are to put the winch and small air compressor from my pickup on the cruiser, put on some fog lights that are just sitting around from trading the oversized Hellas, and get new tires next year if my truck will hurry up and sell. Also want to paint the wheels dark gray, take off the fender flares and roof rack and fix some rust under the rack at some point.

While I'm not one to keep a detailed build thread, I recently finished an over-due catch up on the maintenance after several years of the cruiser just having to work as a vehicle and not a hobby.

All of the above was done years ago...and now at 250k miles and having owned Bob for nearly 15 years
Replaced transmission and regeared transfer case
Went back to a more aggressive/larger tire (305/70R16 Duratrac RT)
Painted OEM rims again from dark gray to bronze
Added a new front bumper from @TRAIL TAILOR
Added a Gobi roof rack and an awning
Rebuilt the rear storage drawers
Depo headlights
New double DIN stereo with carplay and all the technology
New rotors and pads
Front axle service with new front axle shafts
New fuel pump and gaskets
New starter
New driveline fluids
New Borla cat-back exhaust (Magnaflow Y-pipe and second catalytic converter) with new O2 sensor

Currently running Dobinson’s progressive springs (C59-222V, 223V) and Fox 2.0 shocks.

Still to come is a rear bumper from Coastal Offroad and painting the sliders black. Probably have to think about an engine rebuild within a few years but running strong and smoother/quieter than it has for several years.
