80 series looses power and dies when water crossing

During 2 trips when water crossings, 80 lost its power and died even when the water was half of the tires(33's)
both times when I tried to start it, it just cranked and didn't start. Finally it started but once I pressed the accelator, it lost the power and died.
After waiting for long, I started it again and left it running and finally drove it home. Pressing accelerator was just killing it. Distributor and Airbox was completly dry both times.
Scard for go campign again as I might encounter small creeks. How would you fix this problem?
