So while I'm testing out my other method I suppose I should have a backup. Here are the four I'm deciding between. With a large bulk purchase I can get better pricing so that I can have them laser etched and not make them too spendy. Thoughts?

I have the freekey and the titanium cable ring ones. They are nice and I like them a lot but they can still take a little bit of time to take the key off. One of the other designs would more than likely be easier to use.

I have all four and I would agree. I have another solution but its not as "EDC cool" or shiny metal they way I think most would be hoping. But it works great for what it needs to do. I'll pot up pics later.

Of your pictured options, I like the spring clip style.

I really don't like the extra length that this style adds to your keys.

I like this one even more, because of the shorter overall length with a small key clipped to it.

I like the spring clip type ones too. I have had one like this:

on my key ring for the last 12 or so years and haven't had any problems other than the finish eventually wearing off. Started out brass, now is just gray. I like that it swivels so the keys don't bind if I put them in my pocket wrong.

***UPDATE***

I figured I would chime in the moment I had some info to make sure everyone was on the same page. I am leaving on 8/12 to 8/26 to go take care of my parents in North Carolina (triad area in case someone is around to meet up). Some medical issues to work out with my dad and some home maintenance I need to help them with. The timing for this wasn't supposed to be a big deal until this past Saturday and then confirmed this morning.

ISSUE #1: The sprung hinge manufacturer is doing a slightly different design with the springs because my test here showed that the spring lift was not as positive as I had hoped. So we detailed a different design but it means the knuckle diameter on the hinge changes slightly. I want what I want so this means they now have an excuse to push the delivery date. They are putting the new new delivery date at...the 12th. Ugh.

ISSUE #2: The die manufacturer for my tumbler emboss is behind schedule. They want until the end of this week to complete it. This is a problem because it means I can't get the metal lids finished until the beginning of next week. The new estimate delivery date of the raw box/lids? Yup...the 12th.

Now, because the dates I am going cannot be moved for several reasons I instead moved my flight to as late as possible. If I can get all of the material at my house actually on the 12th it means I can do all the spot welding I need to and drop it all off at the powder coater. He can then have everything tumbled and powder coated. I can have a friend pick up the lot 5 days later and bring them to the laser etcher. He only needs maybe two days. I can have my friend pick up everything and drop back off at my house. From there I can have my son prepare all of the shipping boxes. I could have my friend, over skype, build up all of the locking mechanisms and prepare the orders. I'm hoping he can do the microsuede as well but I need to talk to him and show him. Its not very forgiving.

The plan is to get everything start shipping before I even get back. This makes me nervous since I personally package every single box but the timing just really sucks. Everything else that was ordered along with the groupbuys are already done and ready to go. Currently just collecting duct while it waits :flipoff2:

Of course all of this planning can easily be side railed because it REQUIRES both the boxes/lids and the hinges arrive no later than the 12th. If even one of those is late then I'm screwed and it all waits until I arrive back home on the 26th. So believe me when I say I am pushing.

I realize this doesn't make me look all that great but I'm at the mercy of several vendors on this. I'm thinking I should have waited to do the GB until after I got past this point. Lesson learned.

For anyone that cannot/will not wait the extra time please let me know and I'll send what I have and refund the rest or just refund the order.

Sorry about this guys. Because of this delay, I'm holding off on the other Wits' End product releases because I don't want anything else standing in the way of making sure this gets completed. Sorry guys. It will be worth it in the end, I promise. I will also be sending out a newsletter just so that everyone gets this message. Please PM me if you have ANY questions. Also feel free to post here in the thread. I prefer everyone know what is going on.

Ain't expectations a bitch. As a 42 year consumer and a manufacturer myself, I can respond on two fronts.

As a manufacturer bringing out a new product, we are at the mercy of vendors. This is multiplied by the fact that you generate interest and demand (viability) for your product by pre-announcing and letting your customers co-design in a fashion. Until the system is worked out, it can get hairy.

As a consumer: Customers (usually) understand when something goes wrong, as long as we know that there is an endgame in sight and we are privy to the timeline of the solution (and that our monies are well taken care of).

Thanks for the detailed update, keep up the good work. No stress needed on this consumers end, I've lived 8 years without my lock box so far, I'll manage another month or two.

Josh.

Thanks Josh. I have four more LockBox designs I want to release but they all hinge (ha) on the successful rollout of this LC version. Couple that with the battery disconnect plus the "other stuff" and I just want things to go smoothly. Ugh.

While I use these all day long with multiple key sets, I have lost more than one getting unclipped for some reason.... thank god I have always lost the clip and not eh key set.

Not a problem at all. Family first, always. This is just giving me extra time to save up for more cool stuff when you come up with it.

Well it's not really a family first issue. At least I don't want to make it about that. It's just a timing issue. I went with the vendors timetable in my planning. And yeah, don't put the wallet away just yet :flipoff2:

I completely understand and am fine with waiting too.

Appendix carry a while longer won't hurt me.
