I like the spring idea. I was going to ask about opening the lid but figured I my OCD was kicking in and I'd be over thinking it but luckily your OCD trumps mine. :)

Great idea on the spring open hinges. Every little change you have done has made me wish I hadn't already built one.

How do I get my wife to forget that I already have one? ;)

Just got off the phone with Medeco and their distributor I'm using. Seems there is an issue with "ownership" of the lock and who is deemed the "original purchaser" because warranty and spare key availability seems to be an issue. I'm working it all out now. I did NOT want to become a Medeco reseller because there is no way to commit to their sales expectations. Will work it all out by Monday I hope.

For those that got in on the group buy and getting the Fire Extinguisher Mount with the Locking Lid or just the Locking Lid by itself, here is what the Locking Lid will mostly likely look like. About to send in the files to the metal shop.

The lid looks great! If it would save you a few bucks in manufacturing costs, there's probably no need to recess the lock on the FEM lid since it doesn't need to "disappear" like the console lock box does.

Good point. Might also catch less crumbs/dirt/junk if not recessed.

Well it's more about consistency and spreading the cost of the die. The emboss gives you a flat lid. Now if you wanted to mount things on top of the lid and let's say maybe...conspicuously "hide" the keyhole you can.

Since I'm paying $650 anyway for one stupid die, I would like to get as much utilization out of it in order for it to pay for itself.

Ah, I hadn't thought of obscuring the keyhole...forgive me for doubting your genius!

"Crumbs in the Keyhole" is going to be the name of my son's band. I've decided. I'll tell him when he wakes up. He will be surprised...since he doesn't have a band, can't play an instrument very well and GuitarSmith doesn't count :flipoff2:

Glad I could be of assistance. I expect a 10% cut in all album sales.:)
