For a stock 200 in good shape, everything working and mileage from 48K to 100K (because that is what is out there now), what is my expected fair purchase price? What have others paid for similar stock vehicles?

27k-45k depending on mileage and MY
Okay thanks, I see them for low to mid 40s back to 2009 (which seems steep). Is there any reason from a model/expected issues perspective not to look at an '08?

There aren't any major changes until '13. The only "big" mechanical issues are the usual water pump, starter contacts dying around 130k, and the KDSS valve might be rusty. None of these, that I know of, changed throughout the run of the 200.

I'm also shopping for a 200 and am aiming for an '08/'09. The extras in the '13+ don't interest me.

Check out iseecars.com It's a good aggrigate for used cars.

The model differences are noted here:

I paid $39,000 for a PERFECT 2008 with 48k miles one year ago. Clean as new...no damage...perfect paint...perfect interior...no rust...super solid.

Awesome, thanks a lot, that's all good information! Good luck with the search.

You will be amazed at the power difference. I had a Supercharged 80 and the transition to a 100 was significant. The 200 adds another 100 horses

I picked up a Toyota CPO 2013 with 49k miles for $49k. There are deals to be had if you're patient, don't mind traveling to purchase, or not particular about the color. The mileage was a little higher than I originally wanted but CPO + impeccable service history + apparently highway miles made a 10-15k mile difference seem irrelevant for a vehicle designed to last 300k. Also because it was CPO and I caved for the Toyota VSC (extended warranty) I convinced myself to finance it an extra year since any issues (aside from maintenance/wear items) would be covered.

FWIW I was looking for a 2011 with 35-45k miles, and they seemed to be listing for 45-48k. An accident on the carfax should knock $3-4k off the price. The LX570 price seems to converge with the LC around 2010 or 2011, so if you're not planning to mod you might consider an LX as well since they are much more readily available (Toyota sells about 3x the number of LXs to LCs in the US). The best negotiating point was to find comparable LX570's and argue that the LC you're looking for is overpriced because it has a few less features. That said, at least around Chicago I found that most dealers refused to negotiate more than $200-300 off the price.

Thanks for the info. I am going to play the slow game until I find what I really want and then go from there. I hadn't considered an LX but I may at least price compare. There's something about a Land Cruiser...

Good, buy well after May when I'm looking to purchase so you don't steal my 200 :)

I wouldn't rule out an LX. Prices are similar in the 08/09 with the LCs. Many of the 08/09 standard features in the LX are what the '13+ LCs got. It's a road less traveled as far as mods go but Slee has a LX they've been testing with. Metaltech lists sliders for the LX but the rumors are conventional sliders for the LC won't fit the LX. The AHC is really my only concern with shopping for an LX.

I'm curious what your concern would be with an LX? If it's an issue with lifting it, there are aftermarket mods which will let you control the air suspension (so that you can maintain the 2" lift and not drop back down to normal height above 30mph).

Which mods are those...

Not that I'm aware of for the 200 LX. There is for the 100 series LX with AHC though. Unless you're talking about modifying the the height sensor.

I'm thinking about the controller from Prestigious Society though I think Data Systems has something similar.

I didn't look closely at first, but theirs is for the LS. I don't know how similar the air suspension is but it's possible the controller may work as is. If not, I would imagine you would just need to tap into the speed sensor to the AHC and override it so the system always thought you were sitting still.

FWIW: I keep reading about concerns with the AHC. Don't worry! My LX470 has 200+K miles with no AHC problems. I replace the fluid once every two years and I get the advantage of raising and lowering the vehicle when necessary - and the truck levels itself when towing my 6K# boat. The LX570's AHC is a major improvement in both function (the ride is unbelievable and it seems to eliminate roll) and maintenance. If I remember correctly, the fluid only needs to be changed once every 60K miles. Don't worry!

If there was a way to keep it in "High" mode regardless of the speed, I'd be golden. Some AHC sensor modification might do the job, much like with the LX470. Maybe an LX owner can chime in.

Also, I emailed MetalTech to double check on the sliders fitting the LX570. I was under the impression that the AHC caused issues with installing sliders.

Plumbing for the AHC gets in the way of mounting the sliders.

You might wanna talk to Slee. They have a 570 shop truck to fiddle with and as the designer of some of the best sliders around, I'm sure they can tell you exactly what you're dealing with.

Does anyone sell a Snorkel for a 570?
