Does anyone have any experience with the chrome exterior door handles that have flooded ebay? My drivers side front snapped and I was thinking of trying one of these. I plan to sand it down and paint it. I wish they were in black instead of chrome.

Search for doorman handles. They make black ones also and should be all over eBay and amazon

Yeah, I saw the Doorman's on ebay. $67. These chrome ones are $15 free shipping. I was just curious if anyone had tried them. Are they complete trash or are they decent. I may just order one for the heck of it. I've blown $15 bucks on a whole lot worse things than a door handle.

I installed a black Dorman a couple of weeks ago and it went in exactly as this forum suggested. I don’t have any experience with a chrome.

I’m sure that they are available used in the classified section. Maybe @Deathvalleypaul

I just picked one up at toyotapartsdeal.com. Black painted, Part No.: 69220-60020-C0
HANDLE ASSY, FR DOOR.
I was happy to see it came with the trim seal, mine was falling apart and you can't get the seal separately anymore

Use weatherstripping.

What’s your time worth, how many times do you want to change it out and paint it? My oem driver handle lasted 22 years with daily use. That’s, what, $3-4 a year?

I try to avoid home depot for parts, lol. How clean does that come out?
Came out beautifully. Mult-ridged, rubber, high-quality. Otherwise you’re paying for a much more expensive assembly from Toyota, to replace one that is not broken. Just ask cdan, as I did ... “Free rubber seal with every purchase.”

Mine was broken, that's why I replaced it. Would be nice to get seals separately for my handles that don't need replacing. What weather striping did you use? Any pics?

Somewhere. Will see if I can dig them up. It was brown, rubber, had three ridges on it pretty deep. Probably found it at Lowe’s

FYI - I received my $15 door handle today. The quality of finish is excellent. Also, the housing is metal and not plastic. The handle is plastic. It does come with the plastic/rubber gasket that goes between the housing and the door. It also comes with the plastic clip that holds the metal downrod to the handle. This handle has what looks to be a brand name on the back - HUFL. They are made in Taiwan.

You can buy them color matched from Toyota. I’ve done two different trucks in the last year.
Yeah but only original colors of course...

I bought one of those chrome handles about 8 year ago. I sanded it and painted with some spray paint mixed up to toyota color code at an auto paint shop. Still working great. It's slightly darker than my probably faded paint, but no one notices it but me.

I'd do it again - especially for the price it was. I think it was like $20.

Correction - it was in August of 2014, so 5 years and it was less than $20.

Good to know. I'm planning on doing the same. Well worth the $15 I gave for it. I figured someone else on here had done the same. Thanks for the input.

No problem. If you want more specifics or pictures, let me know. Happy to help.
