So ive been busy trying to revive the pig and get back in on some trail action this year. For those that dont know the 1f went out at Uwharrie last December when Steve and I ran down for the day. I picked up a 79 2F from Flinny and took it down completely, had it cleaned, new cam bearings pressed in,new freeze plugs, and the head rebuilt. Finally got it back and put in new bearings and rings and got it all buttoned up.

I managed to get the F out and the 2F in by myself and get the clutch, tcase and tranny back in and now am at the final stretch (and did i mention sore???). Im waiting on some manifolds to show up so i can bolt em up, toss on the carb and finish plumbing it up. Im at the point now where I'm going to have some ?s. I took some pics but still got to wire and plumb it all back up and set the dizzy/timing up before the moment of truth. If it runs as good as it looks ill be happy :D

Any and all suggestions are welcome

And many many thanks to Flinny, Mdemeglio, Trollhole, S4 and others along the way that have helped w/ tools, knowledge and patience.

now the real trick is to see if any of the front grill and rad supports will line up :D

not to mention the getting it running part. Im all ears and up for volunteers on the final stretch. Just got to pick up a few more things. Exhaust manifolds, oil cooler, hoses and finish the plumbing/electrical and set the dizzy to GO!!!!

NO E :(

not fancy at all, just built back to stock with new bearings races and rings.

I like the turn signals that let the people on the obstacle you're trying to get on know which way you're going! Thanks for the mention about the engine in your list!!!:grinpimp:

Doh..... i knew that was coming when i saw you responded.

And a big thanks to Brian for graciously passing on the 2F maria had listed and letting me have it!!! :D

Harlan? sure, right behind yours. Just remember i got the measley 4spd. Nah, think i learned my lesson bout driving this girl 6hrs from home.

But won't those 35's act like an overdirve to compensate ;)

Man that thing is shiny!!

Looks really good. You've made a ton of process in the past week. Impressive.

Doh............... so it turns out this is actually a 77 with a 79 valve cover. :meh:

looking good J. if you need a hand give me a ring and I'll come over.

is that a surprise you are just now realizing, i guess on a postive note not many changes between those years.

call me naive... i just went with what the seller told me. Never even bothered to check. Just glad/hope all the pieces are the same.

One step closer, i picked these up today. One thing i learned through the whole process is whatever timeline your machinist says...........................triple it.

cleaned, cut, clearanced, and capped

Need the shorty waterpump w/ 2-groove pulley and smaller bolt pattern for fan.........a 75 from what ive read.

Machine shops take a little longer than they say most of the time, least around Nam they do.

I know I know believe me Im tired of it sitting in the middle of the driveway. Pushing it close to having it ready in time to make a URE run.

Manifold studs should be here today and that leaves me looking for the 2 groove pulley with early bolt pattern.

baby steps.....

got the pulley thanks to Trollhole!! mounted up the alternator and will have to adjust the powersteering.
Now I just need the plastic non clutch fan and a day with no rain.
