Ha Ha..... i gotta laugh as I read through this thread and count the times I've said "almost there" "just need this" "ok need that too" etc etc.

So there were quite a few differences b/w the F and 2F I had not read about. Plus, I believe one of the PO's got "non traditional" with the heater hose routing. Thanks to Jon I got the plumbing figured out, now its time for the electrical..

Im missing my folder of pics of pre tear down. Again Jon helped me with the vacuum lines, plus deleting the smog equip. Now im trying to remember what order the wiring went b/w the battery, starter, coil, alt, and dizzy. Plus the fun part is ive changed coils to one that I believe has a resistor (dont take my terminoligy there to serious :) ) I had previously converted the stock alt to a GM ambulance unit and at the time gone to the one wire setup.

I got some searching and reading to do before being confident about dropping the dizzy in right anyways but if you have any tips to the wiring or dizzy setup (links too) I'd appreciate it.

enjoy

This is the best shot I got but let me know if another would help.

So from the schematics it looks like this is how it would go.

Direct power from battery to starter.
The wiring harness comes from fire wall and splits out to go to the starter (ignition circuit i believe)
off the piggy back can on starter there are two terminals.

+Looking at my old coil, it seems the dead end wire in pic (yellow) goes to the positive terminal on coil.
+I think the other terminal lead goes to the resistor clamped onto the coil as shown?
+On the negative terminal on the coil, does the one wire lead to the terminal on the distributor as shown?
+then lastly I believe another wire runs from the negative on coil, to the carb selenoid?

what you guys think?

Also, in the head you see a port that is not filled; it sits just in front of the T that the heater line is tied into. Is this where the oil pressure sending unit is installed?

If it's like mine, I believe that is where the water temperature sending unit goes.

Where do you guys get 12v switchable power to the carb? i presume a wire lead from harness.
-previous owner had it running straight from coil but I hear thats a no no as its constant and not on the ignition circuit. Pretty sure this harness is hacked to the extreme but I got no pigtails loose and didnt know if you can cut into the ignition wire and wire up three leads (like a T intersection) and re wrap. OR do i pull a wire from the starter lead that is only giving 12v w/ ignition circuit?

oh and it doesnt have to be stock or look pretty, just function without fire

VULTURES i say, vultures. OK so i jest :D

no one responded to my wiring ? so I didnt think it would get this much response.

2F is not for sale (w/out pig) and even closer to completion. Plumbed oil/temp gauges thursday.

I did buy a 350/420 combo, but its already installed.............................. see you at the meeting.:hhmm:

Its installed in a 40 from the looks of it. So tell about the rest of the story / truck.

Absolutely beautiful!
Great find Jason! I call all time shotgun just so I can experience the glory.

I knew there was something up when I saw that post. That thing is going to be a lot of fun. You'll have to post up some pics for those that didn't get to see it. you should be out at Uwharrie right now giving those MT's a shake down.
