Darin I figured you'd recognize that firewall. Now that Barry has left I felt the need to restore the balance of 45 owners in NC.

sadly, not yet.

so I answered my own ? about the valve grommets sort of.

Now onto the spark plug wires and arrangement. I followed the FSM about dropping the dizzy in and what do you know. It slid all the way in on the first try. Must have been because I forgot to add the clamp that keeps it from spinning freely

Now the FSM mentions nothing of ordering the sparkplug wires and although I numbered the wires before removal I have been told that its was pointless as they will all be rearranged during the install. Is this so? IF so, does anyone have a link or recommendation on installing the wires in the correct order.

firing order confirmed on mud is 1-5-3-6-2-4

Do i need to start #1 at the rotor's position after installing the dizzy?

Search is on but Im really just racing a buddy who takes delivery of his HEEP this afternoon and I was hoping to beat him, but not at the price of a siezed 2F

J, I'll get in touch with you about the removal of the 1F! Although it looks like I've got an in of a 2F, trans, and xfer on nc4x4 that may be going in it now...

Yep the total would be:

1F, 3 speed trans, 3 speed xfer
2f, 4 speed trans, 4 speed xfer
2 extra 4 speed trans
1 xtra 4 speed xfer

As much as I've been breaking down, it's sadly not been my driveline (knock on wood)... Sorry J, not to chat in your build-up thread...

So that was a yep I can take the axles :grinpimp:

and the sparkplug wires go.......? :D

I ordered them 1-3-5-2-4-6 from where the rotor button was with 1 being the next plug for the rotor button to strike and no go. Im not showing oil pressure yet on the guage and the battery (just charged) sounds awful weak. It turns the starter and wheezes like its turning over forcing air out the chambers but no fire.

Jason, have you adjusted your valves yet, you will need to make an intial adjustment and if you had new springs installed on the head this will definitely be the issue. Let the valves at some they have some play.

meaning the valves will have to be adjusted properly for it to fire???

I feel the issue is with the ordering of the wires at the moment. No doubt the valves will need adjusting. The FSM only mentions adjusting after it has been brought up to operating temps. 3 of the springs were replaced when the head was rebuilt and I imagine the builder put to similar tolerances. The FSM only has hot clearance specs.

Sorry Darin, I thought I had responded here.

I dont think I am. Will definately check. I pulled the clutch cover and painted the BB and Line on the flywheel.

I lined up the BB (7* BTDC) and it slid right in, all the way. Also the springs on #1 cyl. were lose so that should mean the valves were shut confirming I was on the Compression stroke.

I really havent put more time into it since the arrival of the 45 and then christmas, now work is knocking at the door. I would like to wrap it up over the holidays though.
