Great post. Regarging the wiring book in post 194. Did that come with your wiring harness or is it a FJ40 book? Nice looking rig. I am deciding if I want to spray a liner on the underbody. If so what color. I like the look of yours but my rig is off white. I am thinking a simple off white under body to match.

That diagram is in the (chassis) Factory Service Manual.

I also agree on the spray liner. I've seen white trucks with black spray liners. IMO, they didn't look good.

I've been trying to wrap up the wiring, but I keep finding more wires that need pulled. I installed the three autometer gauges into the radio slot (oil pressure, water temp, and trans temp), which was a real tight fit. I found a small gauge panel at Summit that was almost a perfect fit, until it came to installing the lower dash pads. You can't see from the pictures, but both pads have been shaved with a sanding drum to fit the outer gauges.

The next thing to tackle was the gas pedal. MUD research indicated the need for a Lokar replacement of the stock pedal for the V8. Apparently, there is not enough throw in the OE assembly. I guess that folks have heated and bent the stock units to work, but this leaves the pedal pad pretty far off the floor. I build a little blank-off panel for the proper opening and installed the shortened cable assembly. I also flipped the pedal pad over to extend the longer side toward the floor.

After the gas pedal was installed, I could then shorten the throttle cable and make final adjustments on the transmission kickdown. I tried to route the cable for nice sweeping bends between firewall and throttle body.

Pretty bad video, but what the heck:hhmm:.

The rattling you hear is the lower passengers seatbelt attachment flapping in the breeze (as there is no passengers seat installed)

Sounds good, nice exhaust note but not annoyingly loud. Bet you had a big smile on your face during that drive. You do excellent work but the tilt-o-meter on the dashpad has to go, it ruins such a nice clean dash pad and screams tacky add on. On a 4Runner where it was stock OK, otherwise they just look terrible IMHO, unless it is a trail beater where it will be used to freak out the passenger.

Congrats Jim, lookin' good! Hate we didn't get to wheel any together the other week. I look forward to you joining us more in the future!

Me too Ramon. Like a fool, I waited for the rover folks. After waisting too much time, I ended up going out with the next group of cruisers who left out of the outpost.

Can you please take some pics of your gauge pods you put in your radio hole, I am going to do the same thing on my Cruiser.

Responded on your gauge posting with pictures and a part number. Let me know if you need anything else.

You have not been to the house to pick me up!!! I'm ok riding on a milk crate and holding the rollbar. (and don't try to play the "it's not registered yet" card.)

I don't know where the new place is!

The plate is on, registration up to date, and insurance in force.

Is that a TD5 in that photo? https://forum.ih8mud.com/3178695-post15.html

Call Marlin and order the 2.28:1 Toybox. This would grow our already long driveline by .5 inches over the standard AA adaptor for an extra 6-700 dollars, but give us the needed numbers for a decent crawl ratio.

Marlin sent the tailshaft to TCI to be incorporated into a 700R4 that they would build to our specs.
