I have used “if it fits , it ships” flat rate shipping for some heavy brake parts and u-bolt flip kits. These boxes were about 40-42lbs each and deceptive when your average person grabs one to pick it up.

I’ve also had boxes shipped to me in that same manor. The result are usually no different. More than half arrived with a hole large enough to put your hand in.

I have discovered 2” wide fiberglass tape has provided a very secure delivery and while the previously crisp square priority box my arrive squished and soft with rounded punched in corners, the tape provides a fantastic barrier against it getting pierced open. Worth the extra dollar or two to insure you are getting all the other small parts tossed into a box. Making a 3 strip grid in both directions makes it work a full 360* wrap

Test drove the heater this AM…That’s full spectrum on the Air/Heat upgrade. In the grand scheme of upgrades, it's an old man keeper!! Air flow is good, vents are spaced out under the dash so the spread is pretty even.

All buttoned back up. Sides are down and rear doors are single pieces again. Took < ten minutes with the 10mm. Small adjustment with the latch pin/spring on the rear P side. The TROA Top tightened up nicely w/no complaints and seems to be holding up nicely on my forays to the range and back.

No full scale bath so far, just hitting it w/the detail spray as needed. Still shaking down small nit noid driveway tweaks. There’s a faint whiff of petrol from some yet undiscovered connection I’m tracking down. Not constant, just the occasional reminder.

Ordered some aftermarket door card caps/clips. That didn’t work out. Bit the bullet and ordered from Uncle Yota. Should be here next week.

Actually stopped by the storage bld for some proper tool time. The BG is void of any appreciable automobile hardware…For now 😉.

I must be feeling nostalgic today Jeff, because your mention of the vague fume smell harkened me back to the Pennzoil-in-a-cardboard-can days of my fathers 1954 Pontiac Star Chief.

I’m always amused when customers tell me that my shop smells like an old automotive shop, because my frame of reference is 30 years older.

30yrs is a fair piece of realestate to wander on. I like kicking around on that ground myself. Pretty sure I had more hair then. 🤔

In our house, it was Quaker State for all things internal combustion and 3-in-1 was the undisputed external lubricant of the household/shop/shed.

I still have a spout and a couple of old tin oilers squirreled way in a big storage tote full of pleasant memories.

@65swb45 As little as 20 years ago my garage was used for a few 1920’s-1960’s motorcycle and the one thing I ALWAYS thought was ….what a difference in the smell of the garage. Not surprised to hear you say that but VERY surprised someone else actually notices

“.just hitting it with detail spray as needed”
That comment didn’t go unnoticed by the way…
It is an FJ40 you know, it needs some dirt. If I’m being totally honest though I can’t say I blame you, 2.0 is the shiniest 40 I’ve ever seen. I am not sure I would even let my wife park next to it. Good to know it frequents the gun range, a Landcruiser fits right in at a gun range.

It’s getting its fair share of range duty, piggly wiggly runs, gym time and general galavanting through the “Ville”. The 20 something ladies at the BP Station think it’s a really nice “Old Jeep”. So, it’s got that going for it too…🫤

In some areas the Corvette is a good chick magnet… I didn’t know the 40 was a chick magnet until I moved to a rural area…

How could you NOT marry this girl….excellent reading material for a picnic too … that’s the F engine and Chassis manuals. We couldn’t put ‘em down

Back in the ‘90s I had a client who was a teacher at the local high school. In fair weather you could often see him driving around on his lunch break in his topless 40 with students in the back. They were mostly girls. 🤔

I've got a little trick to keep your side flaps down: I got some flat rare earth magnets and mad a small slit in the inner liner and shoved them in towards the corners. holds down where you want it naturally. A gentle touch to not cut the outer layer. No pics available right now though but if you need better clarity, you have my digits.

No love on the aluminum tub.

No love on the aluminum tub.
Redo the tub, easy.

(Face palm emoji)

Well, it works great if you stick to good old fashioned steel like the Mayan’s did.

Paramagnetic material aside, it’s a great idea. 🏆

DECORATIVE Steel buttons drilled into the tub 😳 to match the positions of the magnets in the top

Just place an ad in the classifieds: alchemist wanted!😛
