I bought a 76 FJ40 and the PO had a GM carb so I just bought an aisan carb to replace it, but I am having trouble figuring out how the accelerator cable attaches to the carb? I am also not sure if the cable linkage is stock for a 11/76 FJ40 or if it should have the mechanical linkage? There is also no throttle cable near the steering column on my FJ40.

My 76i is mechanical
It appears you are missing all the linkage from pedal, up firewall than to the carb.

You can check out my thread "Going Aisin" for all the details, it's a journey but well worth it. Here is a photo showing the basic parts, good luck.

Your pedal and cable are wrong. I sell an adapter to use that carb with a cable but your cable looks marginal at best plus it needs the correct end for my parts to work. Basically it looks like this.

You have to buy the cable from spector or fjparts.

That looks like how it runs on the rhd 40 series. Nicely done troll. I am really impressed with your carbs.

You can check out the following post for a picture of the missing linkage

"1st FJ40,'76, where to start?!

look at post #177

You can also try to find a pedal that is for the mechanical linkage vs the cable linkage pedal you have now. That is what I did in the thread referenced above "1st FJ40....".

With TrollHole's adapter you can do cable, or with a Mechanical Linkage and Mecanical Linkage Pedal, use the Aisin carb the way it is. The photo above is great in that it shows all the parts needed. The item on the left is the carb spacer and heat shield. The parts on the right of and under the pedal are for the linkage.

Helping a friend with a 1981 Fj43 and linkage for Asian carb has a lot of play. You mentioned a cable conversion? Are these conversions still an option or is new linkage available?
