Good day All,

My 1hz LC starts easily when I start the car after leaving it for more than 30mins. But when I turn the car off and start it after 2-3 mins it only cranks but does not start. Is there something wrong with my glow plugs. Maybe the glow plugs are wet? Please assist.

Not glow plugs. you would have the opposite problem if it was glow plugs I would think.

I feel like I've heard this issue discussed before either on here or on "car talk" with click and clack.

I think I remember the diagnoses being the fuel pump? Or maybe fuel injectors...
Either way my money is on something in the fuel supply not working so well when warm. Heating up and expanding so less / no fuel can be supplied possibly?

Does it ever shut off while running when warm? Or only an issue when cranking it after shutting it down?

Hi PNWScooby, it doesn't shut off while running. It only cranks and does not start if left off for a short time as stated before. I usually have to leave the vehicle for more than 30 mins after which it starts up easily.

Weird! I cant believe the more knowledgable guys on here have not given their opinions yet....

Good luck!

I think there was a thread in the Diesel Tech section recently that discussed a 1HZ hot start issue, but I could be wrong. It would be worth a look at any rate.

Maybe I will try to check if the fuel supply system is working or not (as per manual) by checking at various points in the system.

What's the worst thing that can happen if the fuel pump does not get replaced or reconditioned?

Nothing really, but it will get worse to the point where it will not start easily at all.
Are you getting an audible click when you turn the ignition on/off? I was wondering if the fuel cut solenoid wire is loose and not getting a good connection.

I read a post recently regarding a similar problem with the fuseable link getting hot and causing problems until it cooled down.
