Colorado boy-

I am going on 12 years as a UH-60 Crewchief. Love everyday of it. And yes it came with the 4 speed from the factory. Thanks for the compliment. Sure do like how it has turned out so far.
Hey - me too! I did 8 years. Got out April '95. Was with the 2nd AD for a while. There is a pic of my younger days in fron of 23759 in the pics of me thread.

Nice work on the 40.

ITs a small world! Nice looking rig you have as well. Do you miss it? Crewing that is?

Thought I would share this photo. Took this photo by chance summer of 2001. Enjoy!!!

Yeah I do. Great buch of guys. Aviation is so different from the rest - "Above the best!" Although, I was talking about it with someone the other day. I could never have afforded to stay in. I would actually have retired this year. Chose a new path for myself and although crewing was a blast (I loved doing night sling loads under NVGs and paradrops!) I have alot more comfort and security now. I love the pic BTW.
Here is a sweet repost:

When you turn your wipers on, do they work at all before the fuse blows? The reason I ask, when I got mine back together the wipers were frozen in place. I tore the motor apart and cleaned everything with electrical contact cleaner and then greased the bushings on the ends. It worked great after that.

Been busy so have not had a chance to do much lately. I have not tried cleaning the motor up yet. Figured it worked when I took it apart. Should work when I put it all back together right? Right!! Anyway. Did some trouble shooting. As soon as I turn the key on the fuse blows. I dont know if that helps at all. Anyone else have some ideas.

Is there any advantage to using the stock air cleaner. My motor has been desmogged and will not be using the heat riser. The other issue I seem to have is the mount for this air cleaner, canister type, has been taken off. As you all know it is secured with the front two head bolts. I can't seem to loosen these bolts and am afraid if I reef on them I will snap them. So looking at alternatives. Any suggestions out there?

Your truck looks great! I have a '74 that I have been restoring too. I didn't have too bad of a rust problem though. I am still getting the kinks worked out of it though. I'll have to share some pics one day.

Looked around for new battery trays today. Did not like any thing I saw. So I am going to build my own. Pics to follow.

Reviving this from the dead. Just finished installing my Metal Tech cage! Friggin awesome piece of equipment. Will post pics soon. Also plan on doing a 2F swap this winter. So I will document that as I progress.

Here is my Metal Tech cage installed. It turned out really nice. Bought the jackson cage with stock rollbar replacement. Cutting the notches was kind of a bear but was not undoable. I had it powdercoated black and was not all the expensive. Worth it I think!

Guess if I was doing a complete stock resto I would have went steal. But the aluminum tub looks great and have had no issues with it. Guess it all depends on what direction you want to go. Best of all, NO RUST!!!

Sure is looking great. Wish you would've decided to go with a steel tub though. Oh well, live and learn.

plus the steel tub is ALOT more expensive.... I love my alum tub also... and would do it again in a second!

Paid $180. Feel it was worth the money.

HMMM.... Good point! Need some Poser shots. See what I can do.
