really fun build thread!

sorry to hear about the HOA, i've never had one, but there was a really annoying neighbor i had like 10 years ago who kept beating on the ceiling with a broom. :p

good luck with new home!

Sorry to hear about the HOA

Before I moved here I lived with the HOA S**T for 11 years, like having a boil on your butt....But now no HOA, Political Correctness , Affirmative Action, it's great, Life is good....

Glad to see ya sold ya place...

I live a few miles from ya in Chula Vista HOA is in full force Just to keep them on their toes I do not have access passes on any of my cars and thye hate it but oh well..

It normally takes them a week to get the courgage to give my Land Cruiser a warning however I do not leave the California plates on so it does not matter...

Let see them find a way collect money from a car with Aussie plates..

If I were the HOA I would think a call to the police to investigate and potentially impound a "strange vehicle in the neighborhood, without proper (or even potentially switched - imply potentially stolen) license plates" might be en effective way for them to cause you issue...

would hate to see something happen to that troopy...

I will never, ever live anywhere with an HOA again. HOAs simply give the worst neighbors a tool to be even more despicable. The worst thing about HOAs is that the only people who run for and get elected to them are the very neighbors who need to be strung up.

Many years ago I live in an HOA area and bought a brand new Toyota pick up. Turned out the HOA dod not allow pick ups to park overnight (I had no idea) and on the fourth night my truck was towed. Needless to say, I quickly moved out.

Case law is strongly on the side of HOAs (except for flying the American flag if you are a veteran; in which case it seems that the HOA is unable to prevent patriotism when shown with restraint), so there is very little chance anyone will win against them. I had a client recently who spent nearly $20,000 fighting his HOA against my advice only to lose his appeal and wind up selling his house at a pretty sizable loss. The HOA did not even wish him good day on the day his family moved out.

Well-done moving out and better luck with your next home.

oh lookie, and update finally.
got all the rear suspension off and start preping for the 4 link.

i had to remove the shackles, suck down the suspension and let the air out of the tires just to get it into the damn garage. damn thing is way to tall.
photo.JPG

got the 4link welded up. now trying to figure out a way to shoehorn a 14" coilover. ordering that shortly.
photo%25201.JPG

and a pic of the back seat. just need to start making brackets and tubing to hold the coilovers
photo%25202.JPG

Thanks for the inspiration!

so these damn huge coilovers (14") just wouldn't allow me to run that back seat. so going with a single rear seat. started building for the rear shock mounts. figured this would work out perfect.
photo%25201.JPG

and mounted up.
photo%25202.JPG

showing the rear. not done yet, thinking of adding a brace from the top of the mount to the sides of the cage to give it more strength.
photo%25203.JPG

and finally the rear is sitting on its own weight. (i ditched the other setup as i was just not happy with it.
sitting right where i want it and its 5" lower then before. and now i need a new gas tank as the old one wont fit lol.
need to decide if i should build a custom on in the rear or do one under the front seats.
photo.JPG

got a little more progress done.
ended up putting a brace between the towers to hold the reservoirs and give it some extra strength. build a simple box around it with a removable top so i can get to the shocks easy.

also had to pick up a new fuel cell (was going to build a custom one, but just dont have time and this project is taking to long anyways  19gal should be enough)

redoing some rear brake lines and waiting for some new fuel lines show up to finish the new fuel cell. hoping i can get the truck turned around so i can start on the front.

Looking good, great to see you at it again, Cheers!

finally out of the garage :D now to just turn it around and start on the front.
the rear is about what ride hight will look like. i need to make up some tube rear fenders.

and fuel cell mounted.

front suspension is off :D

got a little work done. checking out how the links clear and sit. going to need to notch the frame for the panhard bar. but not to bad.

PVC links work great :D
photo%25204.JPG

not sure i like having the panhard link under the frame like this, but at full stuff i still have a inch before it hits. so i should be ok.

Awesome project man.

I also now feel very fortunate about not having that whole hoa deal around my place. I couldn't ask for better neighbours man, some of em actually come check out the progress on my project couple times a week lol.
