I checked the FAQ, it only says the 70 series axles are 20MM wider than a 40 seres, bu are the knuckles out the same as big pattern 40/60 series?
What about the short side inner axle?

This is a good question - I look forward to seeing replies on this.

You may have to ask this on the 70 forum as well.

What are you trying to accomplish? Mount 70 knuckles on a 40/55 axle?

If I don't get an answer here, I'll try the 70 forum this weekend.

found a rusted BJ70, hoping to get across the border as parts or half cut

I was just wondering on the axles if they would be worth bringing along or just the 3B, H55 and transfer
and if I brought the axles, I'd use the entire setup in either the LV or 55, then I wouldn't have to worry about the E-brake, but then not sure about spare stuff and inter-changability, with stuff I already have or stuff that's easier to get here in the states.

It is my understanding that the front axle from the knuckle out was effectively the same on the 70/75/77 series, until 1999, when Toyota introduced the 78/79 series, when the suspension changed to coils, similar to the 80 series, instead of the leaf springs, at which time, the axle housing/knuckles/etc changed over to the style found on the 80 series....

Yur understanding sir is quite right....

Hi All:

If you plan on using this BJ70 as a donor vehicle to re-power another rig I would suggest bringing the whole BJ70 down. You will fine having the original donor vehicle there for reference to be very handy.

Once done with the drive train swap you can part-out what is left - the suspension seats, disc brake frontend, and so on.

Good luck!

Alan
