Hey folks, part of the cruise moab checklist requires a front recovery point. I have an arb one on the way but they couldnt guarantee fitment for pre 99 75s. Those of you that have some, can you post up pics of what you are using?

@wardharris do you guys sell something that fits?

Sorry, not in our line-up. Out of curiosity, how does the tech committee define "recovery point?"

Strap around the frame horn? Strap around your new ARB? Good luck.

gotcha @beno, have an email thread going with the guy, i think the come as a pair but will confirm. He ships international. Hes part of the troopys of australia group i belong to on the book of faces.

Ill get an even 4

On the top of my ARB cross member, adjacent to the center uprights, there are two holes. I figured they are for recovery points but never checked into it. Does ARB not market anything for a recovery point?

They do but its all listed as 99+ compatible. I rolled the dice and lost, it does not fit.

I've spent a bit of time playing with front recovery points for early 70 series cruisers (eg. narrow front).

I've got some commercially made points from a mob called 'outback ideas' but they're no longer making recovery points. No pictures unfortunately.

Next up are some recovery points to suit the TJM Outback Deluxe winch bullbar that I designed and made to go on my brother's BJ74 and another mate's ('Chuckles') BJ74.

I also helped a mate make some recovery points to suit his LJ78 Prado. We'd fitting an earlier TJM 75 series winch compatible bullbar, it took a bit of Fab work on the mounts but wasn't too hard to bolt up.

First we marked them out on some 10mm plate.

Then after a lot of work with the drill, grinder and hand files, they were ready to paint. Also painted at the same time some commercially made 75 series recovery points which came off my Brother's BJ74 when his TJM bar went on and got cleaned up, painted and fitted my mate Stewart's HZ(originally B)J73.

And finally bolted into place.

I've also drawn up some recovery points which would suit my BJ74 with its ARB deluxe bullbar on it, but have never got around to making any because as I mentioned earlier, I've got these outback ideas points and have no issue with them. They basically combine the best features of the outback ideas points with the best features of the commercially made points in the 'painting' photo in the previous post.

Sorry, correction, turns out the recovery points on my truck are made by All Terrain 4x4. Here is a picture from their facebook page of them (poorly) testing them.

Which probably means that the other recovery points were from outback ideas. I really can't remember, I think I bought them in 2012 and a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then.

I assume these recovery devices only work if you don't have a factory winch and protective skid plate.

Cutting wheel will help, thats actually the solution for the arb one.

lol... I bet i could make it work with 550 cord and 10mph tape :D
