Once it's welded back to the bumper and bolted to the frame, structurally speaking, it will probably be stronger than stock.

I have a '89 BJ-74 with the factory winch and skid plates. What will work on this truck for safe recovery points?
Odd Iron's recovery point (post #44) is only designed to work with an ARB brush bar.
