Ok. I'm going to install a CB setup, throw the tent and sleeping bags in the back and floor it! Pick up the beer and stuff I forgot along the way!

My plan was to rent a teardrop trailer, because the gf hated the tent since it was cold. (To her) There's a good chance I'm riding it solo this year so I'll most likely get a cot and sleep in the back.

Debating tent(backpack or OZTent if I pull the trigger at Expo), hotel or bring my 17' Casita. The Casita is a nice luxury, particularly if my wife comes and allows us to stay in camp with all the group.

Is the location appropriate for a 17' traditional trailer? Downside is hauling it up the mountains is a 45mph slog, at best, even with the 100. (About 3000-3500lbs)

Thoughts?

I'd do whatever you could to not stay in a hotel, but that's just me. Most of the fun is in the camp and the camaraderie that forms at the campsite. Last year we had a guy pull up in a monster Britney Spears type tour bus. We made room for him, so your Casita would be just fine. I'd get there a little early to find a prime spot for it. We had to park the Britney bus right in the middle of camp, when he got there a little late, but no one minded.

Synchronize your watches. Registration will open tomorrow. It won't take long at all to fill up. Looking forward to the excitement.
can we get a hint as to what time of day to expect registration to open?

so it is. Thank you!

Going through some of HIH5 pics.

So I showed my wife some pictures from this event. We were in the area together last year with our 2 year old before heading to Moab. Our second son is due 7/19 so she won't be going anywhere far that close to the date. Anyway, she looked at the pictures and the dates and said, "you should go." Trying to be a considerate husband and thinking of her being that pregnant and needing help around the house I asked, "how?" She looked at me and said, "uhhh, you get in your Cruiser and drive there." LOL. She is a keeper for sure. I would be bringing my 3 year old son which is a lot of work for two parents, and I would be flying solo with him. Well, I'll be tossing this around in my head tonight. I'd love to go with you all.

Maybe I missed it but wondering when the registration closes. How long do I have to make a decision? I imagine this isn't much of an issue because most aren't on the fence but I might need a few days.
. Extremely likely we will have to close registration by tomorrow. We only have so much space for vehicles per the permit we have for that area. First come, first in. Hope that helps. However, once registration closes, we will take names for wait list. Our contact info is at www.100sinthehills.com. Thanks!

My 2015 Costs Last year I went with my GF cousin and my dad. Trying to see how much was spent total food is probably a little low
CB setup-$120
Gas= 2400 miles / 12mpg * 2.75/gal = $550 Drove from St. Louis
Food ~ $200
We already had a yeti and tent. Bought a blow up bed ~$70

Installed new shocks from yota- $150 (but after 17 years this was probobly needed and not included in this calculation)
Will probobly swap these out to 2.5" heavys
will crank the TBs and do diff dro kit
put tires on a year before so i wont really count that.

I did buy a full size spare but this was something that was going to be purchased one way or another- not included in total.

NO SLIDERS for this guy last year. I scraped the front factory skid ONCE i think i only scraped the undercarraige three times during the whole weekend. If you are considering mods: Tires, front skid, Sliders. and heavier duty rear springs.

so long story short my total EXPENSES were:
$820 spent. I did not include the CB bc I bought it for wheeling not HIH specifically.
$950 if you include the hotel room one night after HIH

total spent getting truck ready

well spent $300 on install and purchase of new OEM shocks and $250 on install of rear springs. $185/ tires * 5 = $915 for tires (total $1,465)
When we first purchased the truck in Jan 2014 we spent $1,300 on TB water pump and all fluids.
$1,465
$1,300
total getiting truck ready over 2 years =$ 2,765
