I will be coming from Houston. Maybe we could meet in Amarillo and caravan together? The folks coming from the south/southwest should reconvene after we all get registered. I know there are 3-4 guys in my Houston group planning to attend also. I'm pumped!

Last year we all met up in Albuquerque Thursday morning (about 7 trucks) and convoyed up the million dollar highway from there. That seemed to be a good spot for people to meet up. Of course if you are coming from Dallas or Houston I will be passing through your area on Tuesday, and will gladly meet up and Cruise(r) with you. :-)

I'd certainly be willing to give recommendations on places to camp and eat if you want to stop over in Albuquerque before heading up Thursday morning. It typically takes me ~6-7 hours to get to Ouray from ABQ, depending on how many pit stops you make and if you stop for lunch.

Anyone passing thru Denver on Thurs Morning should shout out, I'd love to set a meet spot and convoy out as a team.

^^ Yep Yep! Count me in! ^^

If you're interested in leaving a few days early, I usually lead a 2-day trip that has us hitting a few very cool trails along the way. We camp in a super spot as well.

We have met at the Warrior Station just outside of ABQ on 550 over the past 3 years and caravaned as a group into Ouray. I must say it is very cool to see the group of 100 series all lined up and meandering around the corners. I intentionally try to find my place towards the back of the group so I can take it all in.

Normally, a group thread will be started after registration to coordinate travels and meeting location. Hope we can do the same this year.

@duggy let me know what route y'all take. I may try to tag along with your group if we end up crossing paths along the way. I normally pick up I-10 in San Antonio and head west from there.

Im planning on coming from OKC, so maybe I can hop on with the guys coming from ABQ at some point or meet up in Denver. Let me know if theres anyone else coming from the OK/ARK area or en route and we can set up a meet spot.

I'll be coming from ABQ. Not sure why you would go further north to Denver though?
My original plan was to head through Kansas to Denver, then take 70 out of Denver and work my way down to Ouray. You know, might as well extend the trip as much as I can :steer: Though if a group is meeting up, I'd be down for changing my route for a convoy!

Good times!

That looks like fireball's rig.

I will be heading up to Ouray from Denver on Thursday also, but probably later in the day since I'll be getting to Denver early Wednesday. Need some time to rest.

We have a request for those of you coming to HIH for the first time and those who have been to any of the other HIH events...

We're trying to determine how much money folks are spending to attend. We try and keep the costs as low as possible because we understand that some of you are traveling very long distances and buying parts/upgrades for your 100s. We've had guys buy 100s just for HIH. This is also great information for our supporters and sponsors. Our goal is to continue improving this event each year while keeping it cost effective for everyone to attend. Obviously our little event generates an economic impact for our sponsors and the local area. How much money are you spending on mods, new parts, better tires, maintenance, gas, food, fuel, gear, hotels, etc.? How much money are you spending AFTER the event on products that you were able to see/touch/feel while you were attending the event?

We'll never be a large event, but our impact on the industry (dollar for dollar) is probably on par or higher than any other offroad/overland type event in the country. We also give away a ridiculous amount of very high end raffle prizes, relevant to our small size. We're a family event and placing value on the memories made is impossible. It's good information to have as we move forward.

Don't forget to register on Sunday! www.100sinthehills.com

Great question @paflytyer
To get to HIH6 I suspect we will spend approx.:
$400 (fuel, food, beverage)
$100 registration
$200 misc. small upgrades to truck
$300 hotels on either end of trip (happy wife, happy life)
$1000 total

Last year we spent far more getting truck ready for HIH, went from stock to built where i am at today over 10months. Lift, SPC UCA's, diff drop, wheels, tires, BOIR bumpers F&R and sliders, Dual battery set up, LED Bars and lastly Gamiviti custom Roof rack.

This year we are considering a few pretty nice upgrades.
We are seeking an RTT, right now we really like the Tepui ruggedized & CVT Ext. summit series offerings budget approx. $2500.
ARB Drawer system: $1800

OUCH! OUCH!

My wife thankfully isn't on mud.

$600 fuel/food/beverage
$100 registration
$250 buying cb, antenna, other misc items
$500 hotels

$1,450 give or take

Ill chime in as I will be one of the cheaper ones. Being a broke 20-something finishing college sucks.

$400 fuel/food/beverage (split between me and my codriver)
$100 registration
$200 CB setup
$100 for hotel/camping fees

Total $800 give or take. Some of the costs will be split between me and my friend (co-driver) making it easier on me.

@paflytyer just sent a PM.

Forgot to add all the actual HIH6 trip costs, but probably similar to @dubitup

~$400 in fuel.
~$150 in food and beverages. (2 of us)
We ate out twice while there. $35 each time give or take.
~$100 in misc gear.

It doesn't include the PM and tires I got just for the trip.

Just a guesstimate.

Since my LX470 is most likely totaled my cost will be approximately:

  • New LX470 - $9000
  • Fuel - $900
  • Camper rental - $500
  • Food - $300
  • Hotels - $300
  • Flight for :princess: - $300
  • Ham/CB - $200

I'm not including any of the gear I've purchased for the LX as those purchases were planned before HIH. They include:
  • Wheels with 33" tires
  • Sliders
  • Front bumper
  • Rear bumper with swing out
  • Group 31 battery
  • Fridge/freezer
  • Drawer system
Either way the trip will be worth it.

- $5k - purchased the super deluxe icon stage 3 from just differentials for this event. AHC gave up the ghost so it was time anyway.

- $1.5k - Cooper st Maxx tires. Again, current tires (Michelin LTX) have about 4/32's left, so it was time.

pretty wiped out for upgrades after those two for this year.

~$500 for fuel
~$200 food and miscellany
~$100 for CB setup
~$100 for stuff I didn't think of yet
~ registration

Excited as ever, have a good feeling it will be worth every penny :)
