sounds like it. I think when he bought it, it was on some skinny 35"s of some sort that rubbed as soon as you went off road.

RedRatty

Just purchased an 84 FJ60.
132K Miles:confused:. All Stock Engine. Aftermarket Stereo and CB.
Had to replace the Thermostat today, seems to be fixing the overheating issues. Hope it treats me as well as my 82 did; the original, infamous Ratty.
Needs minor body work and paint... Probably gonna rattle can the Ratty sunnovab!tch.

I should go check this rig out, it's not far from my folks house.

Looks a lot like mine, pre-lift...

I saw one of the nicest FJ60's at the Toyota dealership in Lodi, CA. I swear it looks like it just came off the boat. I looked at it pretty closely while they were working on my FJ. No rust anywhere, original paint, interior, engine, amazing example.. unfortunately not for sale. I believe it was a 1986 with abt 120k miles. If you are in Central CA do yourself a favor and check it out. Sorry about the photo quality. The only camera I had was on my phone.

^chances are it is between an 81-83. If it was a 1986 it should have the chrome taller rectangular mirrors, and anything post-1984 has the gunmetal on the headlight bezels and grille.

The chrome mirrors may not have started till 1988 in the States, but if you look around, I'm confident that my statement about the chrome/chrome and gunmetal headlight bezels and grille is correct. Unless someone can prove otherwise?

Your spot on the head lights surounds... Also it's missing head light washers and rear center caps that say Toyota it has the "T" caps all make it a 81-83. Very clean Cruiser too

This is my second '89 FJ62. I purchased my first one back in '98 from the original owner, and I sold it when it hit 400K. I wasn't actually meaning too, but the vehicle was hit on the RH quarter panel, took it to the body shop, and the owner of the shop offered to buy it. A few weeks ago, I located a 110% rust free '89 FJ62 and bought it. I missed my first one, but I knew I'd own another someday! Very nice condition overall. I look forward in doing some mods along with some restoration work along the way.
