ive been doing research on here and YES there are a million threads involving pto's but i cant seem to find just what im looking for. im looking at doing a h55 swap on my 60 with my boot pay, and i have always loved pto winches. i have found that some 60's have pto tcase's, is this something i can request when im looking for my h55 or do they all have the drive gear?

We have several PTO winches here, they are heavy and cumbersome, but work well if kept in good shape

I've tried, and tried, and tried to sell them but no one ever seems to want them except miscellaneous pieces.

In all honesty, an ARB bumper and a Warn M8274 is what I swapped mine out for.

so all h55 have the cover plate for a pto option? or just jdm

well i guess the h55 is considered strictly jdm.. belay my last

I've never seen an Oz h55 without a PTO cover, I think there are actually 2 bolt patterns for the cover. One with 4 bolts squarely across from each other and the other with a stagger in the bolt pattern. As far as I know the PTO gear inside is the same no matter which bolt pattern is on the cover. Just because they have a cover doesn't mean they necessarily have the drive gear for the PTO though....

The H55 has nothing to do with the PTO. That gear and cover are on the transfer case.
I have a complete set up that i wanted to mount in my 87 FJ60.

Problems-

-The 2F exhaust is absolutely non PTO friendly. Heavy duty modification is needed especially for the gear box off the transfer case.
- The PTO driveshaft needs some modification where it bolts to frame as the 2F engine mount is welded over the holes to bolt it up.
-The trans hump in an 87 needs to be cut out to receive the pto shift handle. There isn't a false plate to unbolt and bolt the lever set up into.

As much as i wanted to mount it up, It was a bit much for me to modify as i already had my exhaust work all done and didn't want to pull it out and chop it up.

When i replace my piece of s*** dsl modem i'll upload some pics.

Here is a H55 transmission, splitcase transfer case and the pto, all together.

Still would love to have a PTO gearbox and winch for my 62.

yeah i know its off the tcase, but what i was unaware of was the number name of the h55 case, anyways. thats pretty much the info i was looking for, that is qhuite a bit a work. its ok thought im ganna hit the lotto and have iron pig do it all haha. i guess if i waited to do the exhaust work until afterwards, and had a custom drive shaft made or the stock one altered. how difficult was it to gather all the parts, are they readily available on any of the parts websites?

I think all split cases, regardless of auto or manual trans ahead of them, will allow a PTO to bolt up.

Like Cody says, all split cases in 60's have the PTO opening. Regardless of H41, H42 or H55 tranny. You have to make sure you have the gear in there.

Parts readily available? Dunno

There's a pile in my garage whichI i will soon be selling that's for sure.

What's the lever just above the output shaft? Is that the mechanism that actually engages the PTO? I had thought there was an internal mechanism that would engage the PTO gear in the tcase.

That connects to the shifter for the PTO. Here's a better picture

So where's the common point for that annoying buzzing vibration that comes through that shifter?

Tim,

I'm not sure, as that's where I'm at on my build. I just took everything apart to have it plated and there are rubber bushings that connect the linkages. Maybe yours is missing or worn.
