Thanks Godwin,

While I was rebuilding it, might as well retap the hole for a barbed nipple and run a line up high.

Do you have the specs on the barbed nipple? The last time I had a t-case out I was thinking about doing this but never got around to it. On both 60s I've popped off the cap and forced a length of fuel line (1/4" I think) over the remaining vent stub, using a hose clamp to keep it on. The barbed fitting makes for a more secure solution.

That connects to the shifter for the PTO. Here's a better picture

Nice! I might have to have my buddy hunt around when goes to Yokota for his 45-day trip in May and see if he can track me down some PTO parts over there.

Honestly I think an 8274 would be the better option, but just the cool factor of having a Toyota PTO setup trumps that :D

I have a complete '60 PTO setup for sale. Pulled off my truck including the transfer case gear just in case you need that too.

PM me if you are interested.

I believe it was 1/8" NPT. OEM vent is just pressed in, pull it out and drill right size hole for the tap. Might want a 90 degree nipple, so it doesn't hit the body. Mine has a one inch body lift.

Scrap daddy,

I've had problems with the long bolts at the top of the transfer case becoming loose under high torque. It results in oil loss and is hard to locate the source of the leak.

There are two bolts that run through the transfer case housing and either into or through the fifth gear housing and tighten up on the gearbox. I don't think there are any pins in the fifth gear housing, so the extra torque I've got since my engine mods has added a bit I'd twist in there that eventually loosens the bolts. First time I just retightened them. Second time I dropped the cross member so I could see them better, cleaned up the bolts and used a generous quantity of lock tight before retorquing. Problem solved. Before the assembly is installed, maybe do this treatment to avoid problems later.

Tim,

Thank You, good tip. I have the body off the frame right now, so I'm going to do that tomorrow.

Thanks again! Ron

Hell yeah I am, but the wife just ixnay'd $90 for a good 2F block and rotating assembly, so don't think I'd have any luck talking her into a PTO setup :bang: :crybaby:
