Delete. I'll take one in brown!

Definitely delete the speaker grill.

I would take 2- 5 of each color (brown, gray and black ..... pending price) right now . I pay 550.00 to upholster over clapped out dashes now. So, if you are close to that price you have an order incoming.

Had a customer have Just Dashes restore his and it was almost 2K and quality was ... well... :flush::flush::flush::flush::flush::flush::flush::flush::flush:

I had justdashes do mine 12 years ago. It was about $1000 and it was a 10/10 job, they did amazing. I had them delete the speaker and make the radio hole fit a single din radio. I love it and it's going strong still.

Half the cover is peeling. Bunched up material in the inner edges... Covid mentality killed the QUALITY of USA shops.

Black would be cool.

I'm in for a couple

No grilling

Make it stock & make it real…real COLOR & real HOLES!
Why holes? Do you have a speaker there?

The single dash top speaker grill does have a intended purpose / option use .......

- the CB40M is a
" Muchkin-Size-Spec. " OEM audio device in the same exact way fit form and function wise the add-on cassette-tape player , add-on 8-track player are ....

- the top dash stand-alone speaker can be the CB40M's dedicated one .....

- same goes for the circa-era inclinometer's , they will fit in the FJ60 main upper audio opening , as well as in a FJ40 too ....

- the CB40M can and does fit perfectly into the audio opening , or radio hole as some call it : 1974-9/82 FJ40 , and a 1973-8/80 FJ55 too

.

- this is why the FJ60 radio face plate is designed in part the way it is ...

- if anyone has applied the main dash audio opening using any OEM devise , please post photos ...

i will dig up the ones i do have and post below , there has been a few folks here on MUD that have figured this topic out over the years ,,,,

I just knew this bizarre subject would finally come to fruition when someone, like a Toyota Matt, would formulate an occasion when a historical perspective or idea begins to emerge. The holes actually do serve a purpose and simply put….its because, to the amusement of some, everybody has one!

Im 100000% in for a Grey one. Speaker grille or no speaker grille. Although Id HIGHLY prefer no speaker grille... but beggers cant be choosers here. I never thought id see the day when someone was actually doing this. Kudos to you guys. This is freaking amazing.

If you offer one with the holes i might mount my GMRS radio under there. Seems like the perfect spot since all the controls are on the handheld anyways

Add me to the list! I would definitely be in for one to match the stock Gray dash and would love to see this project happen.
My vote would be to keep the stock speaker holes to keep it as OEM looking as possible. Hopefully the texture and feel will be like OEM. However if the project was made without the speaker, I would still be interested in one.

What's the timeline for tooling and production on something like this? I imagine it's not quick being such a large part.
