Update...... the new air hammer was well worth the $105 on Amazon! Here are my learnings:
- this air hammer will pop rivet heads off in about 20 seconds
- rivets that only go through the frame and inner C will easily drive out with the air punch
- rivets that go through a bracket (body mount/spring hanger) Frane and then inner C can be driven out with air punch after I drilled about 1/8” to 3/16”

My spring hangers won’t be going back on, I’ve decided to go a different route. Hehehe

If you're going all in frame resto. My two cents is scrap that 62 frame and swap in the FJ80 chasis. I wouldn't hesitate if I had my frame down to bones. Just an observation/suggestion.

You'll love the new motor. Makes a big difference. Cheers

Keep in mind that the 80 frame is not going to just roll under your body and fit. The frame has to be cut and shortened to accommodate a shorter wheel base, the rear frame section behind the rear axle has to be raised to accommodate the body mounts on the 60 body and all body mounts on the frame must be removed and re positioned to accommodate body mount positions on the 60 body.

That said, it's well worth the effort in my opinion.

Well, you all kinda spoiled my big reveal.... not doing the 80 frame but TT and I are cookin something up... EVERYTHING from the frame down is gonna be 80.

This will be a really nice cruiser when all done! After you got the body off, any signs of rust on it?

Thanks! I’ve only found 2 small (surface only) spots of rust on body. For the frame, C channel which I’ve cut out and have new TT replacement. Only other spots are spring hangers but those will be cut off and frame will be dipped and e-coated once all new mounts are welded in.

Perfect! Are you making all your own mounts for the 80 suspension? If not, TorFab out of Seattle makes and sells them.

@TRAIL TAILOR is supplying everything. Axles, lockers, sway bars, suspension, steering links and all necessary brackets.

Yes indeed, 100% rebuilt from core to install condition. We will build from stock to WILD and go through ever single part of the core and fully inspect before and during installs. As @Jdog and several others here have experienced there are MANY options and to get your build where you want it, we have the options.

Fun day in the shop today. I’ve never had much luck with 2 Jaw pitman arm pullers but the conical is worth its weight!

Not 100% happy with engine positioning. Don’t like angle and to close to firewall. Read on a build that @cruisermatt posted that xfer drive shaft flanges should be close to 0 degrees so cut my tacked mounts off and going to reposition.

Plan for this weekend:
1. Cut shaft on a perfectly good new tranny. AA kit on 6L80e requires a 4” stick out. Sealed bearing also has different orientation than 4L.

2. Drive about 30 more rivets off on frame to prep for new suspension...... my neighbors are gonna love me.

Thats the thing the tlc mounts where made for whatever setup they were using. Engine looks a little high hard to tell from the pics.
